In a country where capitalism and the internet has indirectly caused an isolation epidemic, it seems pretty obvious that face to face contact would mean more than anything else. 40ish years of internet doesn't change the fact that we've been social animals for thousands and thousands of years.

For those very high on that spectrum empathy becomes a double edged sword that makes life a bit harder, especially in cultures that uplift those who ignore emotion and have little to no empathy. The DSM has a lot of useful information on this stuff.

Empathy is important, but it is on a spectrum. It allows us to understand each other and connect with each other. For those with little empathy unless they go through and feel that bad thing for themselves they just wont understand and write off other human suffering or emotion.

Everyone is on some spectrum of some kind ^-^
I recently learned that not everyone can hold two different realities at once; like not liking bacon, while also liking bacon. Some people can only think in absolutes 🧠💥🤯

I think it is, but only because the people in government see the 1% business types and oligarchs as its people. Not anyone else. Everyone else is cattle to be farmed till we die.

There's a lot of people out there who have no idea. What I've learned from all of what is happening right now is this: what is obvious to you might not be obvious to most.

The more time this drags on, the more and more those old guard Dems are signaling its just all one big party and representation in government is just an illusion. :/

Unpopular opinion here, but Newsom is only good because his staff is great at playing the meme game with the current regime.
Cause he defends his Oligarchs and he isnt changings his stance on that.

So many weird gun nuts around me, which 'around me' is mostly farm forest and Appalachian mountains. Might be why they aren't going door to door around here.

Maybe that's the point. That it is offensive to just skin a beloved show for its aesthetic while rejecting the core. Like watching someone take the peel of an orange, stomp the rest in front of starving people, and proclaim the peel is now "the best of foods".

It has been really cringe to keep seeing the Maga Regime throw around Star Trek like they ever watched it. Like guys, if you wanted to make Star Trek a reality, its a prerequisite to have DEI and empathy. Plus Xenophobes are generally not tolerated in that universe.

The impact of a large company losing a class action after causing harm can be deterrence, like the 1998 Tobacco class action.
Preventing future harm to many people is, imo, invaluable.
But that only works if the law is fair and functions properly and not if “more money = win.”
