👋 hi BLM did cancel the project and now different parts of it have to go it alone. what was once almost done with a federal permitting is now an “early stage” effort in their words of developers. hope this explanation helps!
“The BLM did not cancel the project,” the email reads. “During routine discussions prior to the lapse in appropriations, the proponents and BLM agreed to change their approach for the Esmeralda 7 Solar Project in Nevada.”

Wait, The Esmaralda 7 Solar Power Projects Are Not Dead, Yet
Rumors of the death of the Esmeralda 7 solar power and energy storage projects in Nevada have been greatly exaggerated, for the time being...

Well you have consumer choice which is a good thing and the affordable EVs now have 2-3x range as they did in the previous era…
I haven’t seen anything super new but had seen earlier this year they were looking at next year…
The new piece covers five key trends, some of which we've touched on earlier this year, including EV sales, batteries, public policy, market barriers and what comes next following the clean car tax credit's expiration.
Given that EVs in the U.S. are at another inflection point, I thought it would be worthwhile to share these insights with all you who may want to calibrate your understanding of where electric vehicles stand, both globally and in the United States.
Last week, it was a privilege to present at the ZETA Education Fund's Climate Week Event on the state of the EV market.
New York Climate Week is awesome & so overwhelming - there's like a gazillion events but also the paradox of choice playing out in real time...

Anyone else feel the same way? Any EV/mobility stuff worth looking out for this week?

Electric vehicle ownership still lags in Kentucky, even as EV, battery projects accelerate
Though Kentucky is home to several major EV industry developments, the Bluegrass State’s drivers have been even slower than most to make the shift. In a press release from the Alliance for Automotive ...

How is electric vehicle adoption going in Kentucky?

I spoke with Lily Burris of @wkmsfm.bsky.social to discuss the state's investments in EV battery factories, the potential impact of these investments and how the industry is moving forward.
Thank you appreciate that
So #energysky folks - general question for you: what do you find makes a good webinar or online conversation in terms of format and style?

Thinking a bit about this and wanted to see if anyone here had thoughts? (Can also shoot me DMs too if that's easier).
FWIW I just saw 2 Jeep plug-in hybrids charging at the Flo EV chargers near my apartment — good on PHEV owners plugging in!

Fortunately, more and more consumers are flocking to these alternative drivetrains (including battery-electric, plug-in hybrids and hybrids). But that doesn’t mean we shouldn't recognize how this could affect affordability.
It could also lead to less innovations in new hybrid technologies and could cede further ground in battery technologies as automakers will have less incentive to utilize them.
With this change by Congress, there will be less pressure to continue improving vehicle efficiency. This will probably hurt consumers who purchase gas or hybrid vehicles the most, given that electric vehicles are already far more efficient in their energy usage.
