I promise the whole story isn’t my characters baldly advocating for socialism and hating on the rich but it does come up a fair bit with Reynardine

Yep, I hit my 50k (plus a fair chunk extra.)

I had a plan for 9 novellas, I wrote 4 during the month, and I had 2 done. Just 3 left then I gotta edit the lot. Seriously zooming through my writing plan 😤

Joining this because I actually have the word and it’s a favorite bit from this WIP too.

Reynardine loves pretending he’s Robin Hood.

Made soda cup.

Thanks to the peeps who voted on the poll I posted! It was a close one, but a soda cup it shall be! 🧶 🥤

I made the straw too chubby, and sewing, as always, is the bane of my existence. But I love him anyway. He’s my little soda guy.

I don’t know his name yet. I’ll figure it out.

Part of this big project I’ve been on is rewriting some old stuff. My style has changed too much and the series won’t read well with my old work, so today I’m starting a rewrite of Tybalt, my first ever novella.

Gonna be a little tough but damn I’m looking forward to seeing how far I’ve come.

“… O great calamity
Ditch of iniquity and tears
How I abhor this place
Its sweet and bitter taste
Has left me wretched, retching on all fours
Los Angeles, I'm yours
Los Angeles, I'm yours
Los Angeles, I'm yours”

Always fun writing about my favorite city in the world

Watching Lost LA tonight, a fantastic PBS produced documentary about the city and its evolution.

Excellent stuff, eye-opening stuff and it’s a good reminder to support PBS. We can keep amazing educational resources free with your help!

Valiant goes by his full first name but Leon always calls and thinks of him as Val. He’s the only one allowed to. Some tropes are just so cute I can’t resist.

Someone once told me Stephen King wrote 2k a day so I figured if that made him as solid as he was (he’s been a household name my whole life) then I should do that.

Result: years of 2k days means I can easily double it when I really try and do a 100k month 😤

One of my 1920s noir characters is Southern. Before his time, his family got rich off evil shit and when he found out the family history he shot his enslaver grandfather and fled.

It’s a little… obvious, yes, but “slavery bad” is also a message some mfers need to hear these days.

Told someone a character in my 1920s LA noir story is slowly dying of tuberculosis and they thought we had like a cure then.

We didn’t start curing TB until after WW2 and plenty of WW1 soldiers came home with coughs that just got worse.

I always wanted to be a writer. Almost died. Woke up after and decided that I had to be one of the greatest of all time. Doesn’t matter how long or how much practice and effort it takes, I’m gonna be the best.

Haven’t been Johnny in 20 years because when I was a child I put away childish things and all that jazz. Feels right again though.

Just straight up making this detective Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler’s son. He actually uses Adler, but his full name is Adler-Holmes.

Might not fully publish it, but writing the queer, mystery hating son of Holmes and Adler becoming a detective in 1920s LA is just my type of campy fun.

The thing is I was cool without the bisexuality but it is like +5 to charisma and since I make jokes like that I do need a lil boost
When weirdos say insane things like "kids just pretend they're queer because they want to be cool," all I can think is "so you *do* admit we're cooler than you"

Pink being a masculine color in the 1920s is kinda throwing me while I write this story.

It’s funny that a bimbo all in pink would mean a tough guy back then. Weird how things change.

One of my favorite features of Morgan Le Fay mythology is how she does so much with little to no apparent motivation.

While writing her in a story I had her explain her actions as “because fuck him that’s why” and it just feels right for her.
