Women are not usually interested in science fiction, but that’s doubly true of Star Trek in particular. I hear you, random guy who once knew some lady who watched every Voyager episode. I see you on Instagram, attractive girl cosplaying in Starfleet miniskirts. Unfortunately, you very cool Trek-girls are the exception, not the rule.

A common refrain in the US among normie immigration-skeptics, going back decades now, has been "I don't mind them coming, but they should come legally." It's interesting to me that this line has largely disappeared from contemporary anti-immigrant discourse in favor of outright racist bigotry. Why?

patriarchy doesn't really have two genders so much as one gender and various failed attempts at it, and virtually all the neuroses about trans people comes from the sense that people are either cheating at the game of manhood or refusing to strive for it (which casts its very importance into doubt)

When you see "monk" or "druid" or "paladin" in a ttrpg, that is not a fictive role that emerged from the source but a chimera of cultural, movie, and genre fiction references. If you are not aware of the references it draws from you are given very few hand holds to grab onto.

This divorce was a long time coming, at least since the US destroyed the Middle East, but i think the final straw was freezing Russia out of the financial system.
