A big part of the problem with the "Brontë country" conversation is that we've been conditioned to see scenery like the photo below and think "ooh lovely countryside" and not "yikes, an ecological wasteland with almost no plant life left thanks to centuries of relentless livestock farming".

Honestly as if Emily wouldn’t be glueing herself to Tower Bridge right now to protest inaction on climate change. (Charlotte in the crowd ready with the lawyer’s number for when the police get there.)
The Brontes famously of course disliked any hint of change or modern solutions to problems. This was why they put the names Acton, Currer and Ellis Bell on their novels and sent them to a London publisher. Because they were so opposed to change in the world.

MAJOR revelation this morning: what if I’m now Stage 5?

A whole new world where people survive after immunotherapy, tho technically still called Stage 4.

Stage 5 is freedom. Open. Huge. Dangerous but doable. Like space travel. *

* NOT in a M£sk way

Totally treacle source of the Don (well, where it’s first named on the map). Is it possible to write about this without comparison? Without imposing? #river #riverwriting #fieldtrip #poetry #naturewriting #placewriting #phenomenology #dowhatyouvalue #dycp #developyourcurrentpractice #donriver #don
