Something will have gone out of us as a people if we ever let the remaining wilderness be destroyed . . . One means of sanity is to retain a hold on the natural world.

Wallace Stegner, 'Wilderness Letter'
My brother who is suffering from dementia was recently moved to a care home after his wife and daughter made the hardest decision they could not keep him safe at home. Last night my SIL got a call from him and the caregiver said he is frightened by his confusion. And that has broken my heart.

NEW: A @propublica.org and @highcountrynews.org investigation found that government programs supporting grazing on public lands prop up a wealthy few while harming the environment. The Trump administration is supercharging the system.

Department of Defense Law of War Manual, Sec. 18.3.2.1 states the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders.

What’s its key example? Wait for it . . . It’s "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

The Trump administration's corruption has extended to selling out Ukraine—and America's interests—to Russia so that the Trump family and their friends can make a few bucks.

Chickadees are so pretty! This one braved the 12º for a drink at the frosty, but heated bird water. We're up to 15º now. We desperately need snow.

Best Thanksgiving day tradition we’ve ever started: a cold morning walk looking for Hooded Mergansers. Found some! Dozens! Plus an excellent bonus Merlin and two Yellow-rumped Warblers. Happy Complicated Day of Thanks, everyone! 🪶💚

I remember today's Mutt's comic back in the early 2000s. It meant a lot to me and it stays with me now. Reminds me of my best walking companion back then who meant the world to me. Happy Thanksgiving!

Gosh, this seems like something for CN to be thankful for. Park Hill caught my eye in Chief Hoskin's post because my dad was born there long ago. I have so much to learn.
At long last, the historic Park Hill Mission (Worcester) cemetery is in the hands of #CherokeeNation, acquired from our friends at the Oklahoma Historical Society. #Thankful #Restoration #IndianCountry

There is nothing to review, @colorado.gov.
Commentary: When the Trump administration requested that Colorado transfer custody of Tina Peters from the state to the federal government, there was only one plausible response: Not in a million years. But Gov. Jared Polis seems to have a different idea.
