This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

Here’s an article from this year with the Australian gun lobby boasting that, with surging gun numbers, it was winning the fight against firearms control advocates. Blame guns. Blame anti-Semitism. Blame terrorists. Do not blame everyday Australians who marched for peace.
Australia’s gun lobby says it’s ‘winning’ the fight against firearm control as numbers surge
There are now more than 4m guns in the community – almost double the number recorded in the years after the Port Arthur massacre that prompted a national crackdown

Reddit has filed its High Court legal challenge against the teen social media ban.

On top of arguing that it infringes on the implied right to freedom of political expression, Reddit says it isn't "age restricted social media platform" and shouldn't need to comply

No one is saying there are not significant issues with social media - (it's actually the entire information eco-system for all users - not just under 16s) but there is something very, very wrong with this Labor/NewsCorp plan #auspol

Ugh. Discordant message on the Sydney Harbour bridge photographed for the NYTimes story on social media ban for under-16s. Not just Lego green & ick flouro yellow but sanctimonious 'Let Them Be Kids' from a country which jails Indigenous kids & hasn't held the childcare industry to account.

In my lifetime I feel like I have witnessed an increase in racism towards Indigenous Australians. It could just be the bubble I live in, I don't know. It just seems like the general attitude towards them has become increasingly negative since the 80s.
