Yesterday, alongside New York’s Cutest, I was proud to announce a major step forward for early childhood education in our city. We’re officially launching 2-K and expanding 3-K by opening a request for new providers ready to help deliver these essential services.

there are like 400 parking spaces in this photo. guess where NDOT parked
Should I put this in Hub Nashville? What can you do if the guys you call to ticket drivers that park in bike lanes also park in the bike lanes. We are not a real city.

Nashville did OK here, especially without any sort of inclusionary housing policy. Would like to see this broken down by unit type/BR count. Still not anywhere close to meeting need, which will grow with Congressional inaction on HUD funds like HOME and CDBG.

This isn't mine, and I can't definitively find the original source. But I love this little bit of wisdom:

"If you're a fifteen-minute walk from a coffee shop, but the server there has to drive an hour to get to work, you don't live in a walkable city. You live in a theme park."
For all the fearmongering about capital flight from New York City, there’s an exodus few want to talk about: working people.

Sky-high rents and outrageous child care costs are already pushing families out of the city they keep running.

That’s what we have to change.

sorry but how can you not love transit. it is the undefeated home of dudes rock
LIRR crews used salt, heat, and jet-powered snow blowers to keep trains moving yesterday. Yes, jet-powered.

The railroad has seven rail-bound jet blowers — repurposed jet and helicopter engines — that blast snow and ice clear of switches and the third rail.

one Southern city is adding a gondola, decreasing parking spaces, and charging for parking to discourage driving.

It's Rock City. The place with the gnomes. The gnomes understand urbanism better than we do. They live underground

$4 million for public restrooms today. this is just a stan account now
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin on Saturday announced an initiative to install more public bathrooms across the city.
January 10, 2026 at 11:50 PM
In one week, Mayor Mamdani:

- ordered safe street completion
- fixed bike ramp hazard
- began inquiry into unfair rent practices
- appealed court decision vs bike lanes
- expanded free universal childcare
- gave out free theater tickets

only one required state coordination. don’t accept excuses.
New York City is the cultural capital of the world and art shouldn’t be a luxury only some of us can afford. I’m grateful for Under the Radar Theater Festival’s generosity and partnership towards that vision as they announce 1,500 free tickets for New Yorkers.
