I'm working purely off memory here, but I'm pretty sure it's named that because the boundaries were shaped like a piece of pie, was at least partly related to Pi (maybe the boundaries added up to 3.14 miles?!?), and was coined/promoted by Nashville's own Bryce McCloud, whose shop was over there.
