Yeah unfortunately it was truly crap for that. I discovered most artists through going through favorites and searching niche things on dA.

However, finding original content not tied to a fandom is difficult because people have to know about it to find it.

poorly it was managed. I miss the custom boxes + stamps and chat rooms and other fun things, but the site was collapsing as they rebranded as a copycat and lost all individuality.

Deviantart was a difficult system to discover new artists. A lot of people are more nostalgic over the structure of the site (prior to the Eclipse overhaul and AI slop takeover). I remember barely exceeding 400 followers before jumping ship.

I miss a lot of features it had, but I don't miss how+
