What's the over-under on the reviews also being AI generated?
UPDATE: The publisher intends to retract the paper, but insists it went through two rounds of review from two independent peer reviewers: nobreakthroughs.substack.com/p/riding-the... by @jacksonwryan.com. No word on how they will make sure this sort of thing never happens again.

In my whole career I've never had a study where I've thought 'gee, maybe this is a Nature journal paper' and then you see this, and I think: Apparently they're quite a bit dumber than I took them for and I'm not shameless enough to send something this awful: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Ontario tried this in the 90s. You know what happens? Executive positions drift back to the capital while lower-paid, lower-influence positions stay in the regions. Nothing is any different but the whole thing is more expensive and that means less $ for frontline work.
As frustration in Western Canada deepens over decisions handed down from Ottawa, one writer says the country’s survival may depend on scattering the federal government far beyond the capital’s bubble. https://macleans.ca/politics/how-to-fix-western-alienation/

Ottawa feels out of touch. Spreading the federal government across the country would rebuild trust.

This is hilarious. If they'd been paid to build a building and it was discovered some of the floors were made of Bologna would we invite them to do a review?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, Charlie Brown. We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses
The line must be drawn here, Charlie Brown! This far, and no farther

Wanted to be a vet. Until I met the kids that *really* wanted to be vets. Then got my best ever grades in an entomology course followed by a summer job that I loved in a pest lab. Then MSc & PhD b/c they told me I wouldn't get into grad school. Then got the only job I'm qualified for.

My favorite Gould quote.
"I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops."

I work in the same research area as my spouse, but she didn't take my last name. So occasionally someone who knows us both individually connects the dots that we are married. It's never not funny when this happens and we're both waiting for the first time someone bad mouths one of us to the other.

Yes, yes they do.
