Guess I should reintroduce myself.

I'm C. M. Lockhart and I write books about Black girls who aren't all that nice.

I'm also a Podcaster, YouTuber, and owner of the Melanin Library, an online database of books written by Black authors. Nice to meet y'all 👋🏾
I'm still getting used to this platform, but is this a place of honesty or engagement? Because I'd love to go back to a place of honesty like Twitter was circa 2018
For the new people following me, hi! 😆👋🏾 I'm glad you're here!

Also, serious question, how are y'all finding me? 😂

I had so much fun chatting with @clockhartwrite.bsky.social for the Written in Melanin podcast about my YA digital epistolary Love in 280 Characters or Less! Check out our conversation here or on Spotify!

Have y'all seen the podcast I did with K. R. S. McEntire Cause if you haven't, you should go watch it now. She's passionate about writing YA and supporting indie authors in YA, and amplifying diverse voices.

I have been doing my best to rest and slow down, but I forgot to tell y'all that I did an interview with Nicole S. Palmer and talked about the weight of being a Black woman in corporate America. And idk, a Monday morning in 2025 felt like a good time to tell y'all about it 😂

We're out running errands and while Ben drives us around I'm getting into Outdrawn.

I'm forming lots of opinions, so if you want to get in on the conversation and support the Melanin Library, join the DNF Bookclub. We meet tomorrow at 7p EST ✌🏾

That's cool to know! I'm not a Mac girlie at all (tried once and didn't make it 24 hours 😂) but it's cool to know that's an option. But I can imagine the keyboard being annoying.
You're the first person to say you actually write in Vellum. I know it's used for formatting, but I didn't know it was good for drafting. How do you like it?
That's valid! I started using it for a new project first, The Lady Widow, and then migrated Project Necromancer over once I decided I liked it.

I use both now. Just depends on how my brain wants to fight me each day 😂
I wrote my first book in Word but I only use it for editing things now.

Genuine question: what do you like about Word? I know everyone has little things they look for and like.
I still love me some Dabble. I'm never letting it go 😂

Ellipsus has been good for my brain to switch things up though, not gone lie.

I dropped a new YouTube video today for all my authors who want to know how to sell their book (cause let’s be honest, that’s the hardest part of authoring)

I don’t know if y’all pay attention to video links on here, but here it is. Hopefully, it helps 🤎

Honestly! That was my first thought too.
Wow. We really out here losing reading comprehension skills, huh? Next y'all gone be arguing with babies who hand you they little phones because they hung up on you 😭

None of it is REAL my dudes.
In case folks aren't clear, the book is a work of fiction. People--industry people, published writers and editors and agents--are legitimately accusing an author of animal abuse because a fictional dog fictionally dies in her fictional book of fiction.
Threads is tarring and feathering an author rn because a dog died in her book
