We’ve lived 15 years under Citizens United, watching billionaires and corporations shape democracy with their wallets. Reform once seemed impossible. But now, a group in Montana is asking a radical question: What if states simply stopped granting corporations the power to spend in politics?
Could We End Corporate Money In Politics?
Backers of a referendum before Montana voters next year believe they’ve found a vulnerability on Citizen United

This week's STARHUNTER has a typically messy plot, but it kind of works for the chaotic free-for-all premise, and it helps that the show finally starts to have fun with itself. My #Patreon offers #classictv #reviews and #sciencefiction for low prices!

Unfortunately they skipped the coauthored THE TWO NOBLE KINSMEN, which I was only able to find a couple of amateur performances of on YouTube, but which is actually pretty good. I couldn't even find a watchable EDWARD III (which is about 40% by WS), so I had to settle for reading that one.

Oh, yes, of course. There's plenty of racy stuff in those old theatrical cartoons, since they were meant for the whole audience, not just kids.
clbennettauthor.bsky.social
Yes, that was my whole point -- that even when the cartoons were new, they were making references to even earlier things that went over kids' heads. It's an eternal cycle.

8 tales portraying a future of challenge, conflict with heroes willing to stand up for what's right. amzn.to/2KGU37B “Among the Wild Cybers is particularly accessible to readers who aren’t that familiar with science fiction.” ~ Analog @dackleymcphail.bsky.social @clbennettauthor.bsky.social

Not getting Looney Tunes references has changed the language. Bugs Bunny sarcastically called Elmer Fudd "the little Nimrod" after the great Biblical hunter, but generations of kids didn't get the allusion and thought "nimrod" just meant "idiot" or "loser," and now that usage is in the dictionary.

If you think about it, though, kings are just really rich guys who insist everyone else has to care what they think. It's all part and parcel of the same thing.

I have a jigsaw puzzle of that map. I didn't realize it had been in TNG.

There's a startling amount of eating and talking about food in "The Man Trap." I've long wondered if that was some kind of ironic parallel with the crew becoming food for the Salt Vampire.

The anthem will be "The Rainbow Connection."

On #Patreon, I briefly review all 12 episodes of ROBOCOP: THE ANIMATED SERIES, which, despite toning down the violence, was in some ways the most faithful TV adaptation. My Patreon offers #classictv #reviews & original #sciencefiction at low prices!

Yes. It's the equivalent of asking a marathon runner "Wouldn't it be easier to take a cab?"

In ULTRAMAN ACE (1972), the title giant initially had two human hosts, a man and woman, who had to touch their rings together to mutually transform into Ace. But then they wrote out the female host and just had the guy wear both rings. (She turned out to be a Moon princess and had to return home.)

On #Patreon, STARHUNTER attempts a twisty thriller that just turns out to be incoherent, but seeds (pun intended) a MacGuffin that will pay off at the end of the season. My Patreon features #classictv #reviews and original #sciencefiction for a low price!

I didn't create the Ceres class. I borrowed it from the Journal of Applied Treknology site:

There's a lesson in those signs. Don't ask why others choose their paths, just respect their right of way.
