We have been having some amazing sunsets lately, and I will say it is pure and good for the soul to see traditional college-aged men stop in their tracks on campus to take sunset pictures. 🌇

We are doing a Mad Men rewatch right now and I’m so glad I have them all on DVD. I will try not to be smug about my collection of physical media when everything falls off the internet after it’s all owned by one company.
Watching HBO Max shambolically roll out Mad Men, which is one of the five most important shows of the New Golden Age, makes me feel like that guy in Deliverance making fun of Burt and his pals for getting lost trying to find the river: "It's only the biggest fuckin' river in the state."

We opted not to go with a blue spruce at the tree farm this year for the first time…ever, perhaps? These needles were so much easier to deal with making our front wreath! Sent my kiddo out to gather tiny pinecones and he did not disappoint.

This makes me miss the days when I just cringed at photos that had been resized without locking the aspect ratio. Clear sign of the presenter’s actual work!
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

We caught a Wayfair Black Friday commercial and my husband deadpanned “does that mean I can get the $50,000 Epstein cabinet for 80% off” and wow did that make me miss Reply All. The Wayfair/Moldy Jam episode also had a Jason Mantzoukas segment, one of my faves!

We don’t travel for Thanksgiving anymore - we order in catering from the local market, hang out watching the parade and football, and (weather permitting) playing outside, just enjoying our little family of 3!

Entering the turkey discourse with a controversial take: I will often get a turkey burger if I’m ordering a burger because the toppings are the best part and I find it to be a more neutral starting point to amp up everything else that goes on the burger.

My kid has been into old cartoons on MeTV Toons lately so I guess today we’re watching a cartoon about historical figures that I had never heard of before (Histeria!) - they actually don’t sanewash Stalin at all. And they got to use the “E/I” label!

The kids section of the library has some hidden gems! Not as good as @jonbois.bsky.social Pretty Good documentary but yes, this children’s book does mention the rat poison and egg whites.

I wonder if they will require him to submit the text of his motivational locker room speeches to the TAMU president to make sure they’re in ideological alignment. Guessing that “perk” is reserved for faculty only, though.
