My music is like the one thing in my life I really feel I "have". It exists regardless. By releasing it I don't want to invite more heartache than I have to, nor am I seeking for advice to improve. I'm not looking for compliments or critique I'm looking for connection, if that makes sense.

No that totally makes sense! I kinda missed that it was a personal preference thing. I'm not really a "yes man seeker" kind of person. I more just see me putting something online as an opportunity for people who might enjoy it and relate to it to see it. I make it what I make either way.

You know what, thinking it over I think the use of the word "hate" is probably the issue in me reading this It's become so synonymous with online harassment. I think what you're saying is you appreciate when your art causes mixed responses as that makes it feel provocative and authentic?? idk

i think art is up for discussion but i think people are way too comfortable saying shit directly to the creators. creation is vulnerability and i'd say the people who are willing to bring negativity to a creators face unprompted are more similar to the people calling authentic expression cringe

i personally disagree with this mentality because getting unwanted criticism is annoying! i think that mayhaps people should treat creators as people they'd be having a conversation with in real life and ask if you'd walk up to someone painting and give critiques out of nowhere
