It's one of the great what-ifs, Barrett continuing in Floyd. There are clues on his solo albums as to how that might have sounded - Wined & Dined could have sat so easily on side 2 of Atom Heart Mother alongside Summer 68 and Fat Old Sun

I love the Barrett era without qualification but there's something very special about 68-71 Floyd, when they were mostly fumbling around in the dark trying to find direction, and yet it reaped such aural delights as this album!

I love the story that EMI/Harvest were reluctant to issue an album without the band's name or title on it yet when they showed the proposed art to the chairman he exclaimed "Ahh, Friesians". And that was enough, deal done!

There was a band a few years back (can't remember exactly who), went down an experimental path - nothing too out there, just progression - then fairly quickly did a volte face because 'the fans weren't keen'. Yeah *those* weren't but your new fans loved it
