NEW: The Trump-Vance White House has falsely accused an ally of Pope Leo — Sr. Norma Pimentel — of illegal activity tied to migrant aid, and cut off all federal funding to Catholic Charities in Texas.

Church leaders say it’s a targeted, political reprisal against Pope Leo and the Catholic Church.

I feel like Indiana abandoning Trump is a tipping point. And it’s not because they didn’t want a new map. It’s because he shook them down.

You may have a point. We're seeing republican pols that are just damn tired of t*ump and feel small risk in saying "no", even if they don't have an agenda. Small acts of resistance are welcome.

Smart and brave of Bruna to go on CNN. And not that it should matter, but her accent sounding fully American makes the White House look even stupider here for trying to revenge deport her on behalf of the Leavitt family
Mother of Karoline Leavitt’s Nephew speaks out after ICE arrest: I think what I would have to say to Karoline is just because you went to a catholic school doesn't make you a good catholic.

NEW! Our incredible legal team at @immcouncil.org just secured a victory in federal court, reinforcing a ruling blocking blocking ICE from taking unaccompanied children into ICE detention on their 18th birthday, and re-detaining previously-released teenagers. Proud to work with such awesome lawyers!
BREAKING: A federal court in D.C. has blocked ICE’s unlawful policy of automatically detaining unaccompanied immigrant teens once they turn 18 – and from re-detaining those teens for no reason.

This ruling means youth can stay in safe, supportive settings – not adult jails.

Really a devastating blow to the #scicomm community that @robinince.bsky.social has felt pressured to resign from the BBC simply because he is passionate about his political principles, including a firm belief that trans lives are precious. 🧪 #scicomm
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Wednesday's suit names the city, Superintendent Snelling and then-internal affairs Chief Talley among other defendants in the department.

It was filed just hours before the family of Krystal Rivera *also* filed a separate suit alleging the department failed to protect her from an abusive partner:
‘Where is justice for Krystal?’ Mom of cop asks after suing Chicago Police Department, partner who shot her
The lawsuit filed by Officer Krystal Rivera's family says Officer Carlos Baker failed to call for an ambulance after he shot her in the back during a chase and then engaged in a “cover-up.”
