"I can't afford a cool advent calendar".

Ok well 24 of us got together a few years back and wrote flash fictions for the holidays so you can read a story a day if you want. You have to get it from the authors. I would be happy to send you the ebook if you can dm me your email.

I know, I know, indies are saturated with roguelikes, but Piñata Go Boom @tissueinu.bsky.social and Kill the Music @nikkoguy.bsky.social are two that have impressed me and I definitely recommend giving them a look.

For folks who don't know, every year I do the IGOTYs (Indie GOTY) celebration which is a 2+ hour podcast comprised of my favorite indies of the year in 10 categories with 5 noms each.

This year I don't have less than 10 noms in each category. Absolute banger of a year.

Ep comes out Dec 19!

It’s the 1st of December tomorrow and if your looking for an advent calender style game to play, then you are in luck!

Mission in Snowdriftland is set out like an advent calendar and you play a level a day. It helps that it’s a wonderful platformer too.

This wild to me because this is my exact opposite experience. We have to dedicate a part of our faculty meetings to talk about new ways in which AI is ruining our lives and how to mitigate the damage. Part of that is trying to convince students not to use AI while supporting ones who don’t want to.

Oh boy
I regret to inform y’all that this is a Real Product.

I, myself, took this photo as I experienced a wave of an unnamed combined emotion consisting of genuine revulsion toward this *and* actual gratitude that my food allergies mean I can never ever ingest this.

Oh, yeah, NPC writing is the best. You can do worldbuilding, add a gameplay tip, or just invent a memorable weirdo. Or a whole city of weirdos. It's great.

Watching Three Wise Men and a Baby, a Christmas hallmark movie, and game devs, this studio cranks out AAA games in 18mos, what gives?! /s

Although they fire the d bag team lead immediately for being an egotistical jerk, so maybe there’s the actual lack of realism.

Louder (up to 11) for those in the back.
The reason I was able to start learning my first instrument, music theory, & music performance was because my public school had a youth orchestra

We don't need "more AI music." We need more arts funding so that students are able to access education & equipment, and so that educators can get paid
