I actually got my first 360 as a free gift with a mobile phone in 2005. The first games I got for it were Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter and Dead Rising. GRAW was a nice intro to this new generation, but Dead Rising was special. Silly, gory, stressful, cheesy, and lots to it, I played it for weeks.

I took a notion to draw a wee comic last night, based on my real-life experience where I felt bad for some sticks.
Comic page. 2 Panels.

Panel 1: Me walking my dog in the woods.

Caption: Not to brag - but I walk my dog, okay/

Caption: We often find ourselves in the local woods.

Panel 2: Me looking at a big stretch of boggy muck.

Caption: There's this one big stretch of boggy muck on the pack we take.

Caption: You're probably thinking that we just shouldn't go this way. Hey you might be right. First time for everything, as they say. Comic page. 1 Panel

Panel 1: Me and the dog walking over the boggy muck, elevated on sticks laid into the dirt.

Caption: Every few weeks, though - someone lays down a very useful series of branches so we can cross with ease.

Caption: That's nice isn't it? Someone taking the time and expending the effort to build a little bridge.

Caption: I often wonder who it is. Perhaps it's more than just one person. That's a comforting thought.

Panel 2: Me looking at a big stretch of boggy muck.

Caption: There's this one big stretch of boggy muck on the pack we take.

Caption: You're probably thinking that we just shouldn't go this way. Hey you might be right. First time for everything, as they say. Comic Page - 1 Panel. Me crossing the sticks, we see all the previous sticks crushed down deep into the dark mud.

Caption: It's funny how guilty I feel when a branch breaks - like I've undone their good work, y'know?

Caption: But within a weeo or two, there's a new set of branches ready to be trodden into the mud.

Caption: It's hard not to think about all those other branches, crushed down deper in the dark with every new layer. Comic Page 2 panels.

Panel 1: Me standing in the woods looking down at the path.

Caption: maybe it's my turn to lay down some branches for the next folk who come this way.

Caption: God knows it wouldn't take long - and I definitely have the time.

Panel 2: Shot of my hands holding the sticks I'd need.

Caption: Nah

The car delivery system in Cyberpunk 2077 is fun.

Spent a bit of time in the garden this morning.

More the latter. Haven't really settled on anything since I beat Silksong a couple of weeks ago.

Throwing mud and seeing what sticks. I've played Stubbs the Zombie, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the Silent Hill 2 remake and picked up where I loft off with Chibi Robo. But I can't settle on one.

I have also got back into the Switch 2 edition of Cyberpunk, aiming to see some different endings.

Bubsy is somehow better and worse than what I remember.

I still live in hope. For that and DK64. But I thought we'd have got Luigi's Mansion by now. I've been wanting to play one of them again, but have been holding off expecting the first one to be made available on the Gamecube.

But I'll definitely be having a shot on those SNES games.

I have the NES and Megadrive books. I also bought my pal the Dreamcast one as he's trying to get all the games.

They're very good books and I might have to get Jumping for Joy, next.

For every part of the game that I'm enjoying, it feels there's another that's really dragging out the gameplay with busy work and bullshit.

But then you hear the music and it's magic, but then you have to go here there and everywhere to get anything done, and it gets a bit much.

I've been dipping in and out of BotW since I got the Switch 2. I started the Silent Hill 2 remake over the weekend, and honestly, it ain't doing it for me. But I'm only up to the apartment bit, so it might start to click.

Picked FF7 Rebirth up again as well. Peaks and troughs with that one.

Beat Ganon in Breath of the Wild Switch 2 edition before work this morning. That's a great Zelda. I'll probably give it a while before I attempt Tears of the Kingdom.

But I'm going through the typical lull of not being able to stick with a game at the moment.

It's definitely worth a shot. Something like £26 every 6 months. Considering the price of most magazines these days is a steal.

I find some of the articles really help capture the time and place of the subject. Or help inform what you stick on your emulator.

Plus, Iain Lee's bit about Puzzle Bobble had me playing the Saturn Tribute version of PB2+ until I was falling asleep last night.

Sat down and had a good read of some of the latest @retrogamermag.bsky.social articles. While the cover feature isn't for me, reading about Mortal Kombat 3 is getting me very excited for the new Kollection. And the Heretic and Hexen feature is making it very tempting to just get on the eshop.

Surprise excursion to a construction show at the nec for college today. Bigger surprise, 19 fuckin quid to park.

I couldn't leave it be, so I've been slowly chipping away at the endgame levels over the last few days, just doing a level at a time, and I've rolled the credits again.

That last boss fight was the toughest yet, but a few goes and it was done. A good time.

I've just downloaded Capcom Fighting Collection. Looking forward to having a good go at it.

Last year there were a few of us round my mates playing Power Stone on the Dreamcast. It was magic.

When you're a kid that's a standard evening. In your 40s that's a special occasion. 😅

I'm not sure if I'm gonna bother with the endgame bits, though. I've had my fun, and may go back to it if I fancy some more, but otherwise, I might just leave it be for now and get Breath of the Wild finished as I stopped playing that for the Kirby Switch 2 upgrade.

Finished Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It was really good overall. There were a handful of moments that felt like a bit of a drag, but for the most part, it was great.

I played Starcrossed World after beating the main game, and it was a nice, challenging alternative to the regular levels.
