I can't believe people who have only ever known rent seeking bullshit tech want tech that doesn't do that and, broadly, works

I hope they know they don't get to just have that back later. Like, even if the plan is to wait for a future government that isn't anti-knowledge, people leave. They find other positions, they move, some might leave the country for one that's still interested in research
Heartbreaking. The University of Nebraska will terminate its entire Earth science department.

One of the country's most successful and respected geology & climate programs: gone.

When ideologues & politicians are threatened by the very act of studying climate change, I wonder: who of us is next?
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

A lot of these people would be happier if they all just admitted they're weird too. So much of rightwingery wants to be so desperately Normal™ so they all rumormonger on each other, they all have dirt, they all saw each other at the devil's sacrament
I'm not quite sure where to start

As a kid who used to love to sit up late in my rural county peering into the vastness of space, I find it almost physically painful to stare into the cluttered sky and find my gaze constantly interrupted by all of this disposable litter. This graph does not indicate progress to me.
Humankind has launch more satellites in the past four years (2021 - 2025) than in the previous seven decades.

75% of the currently active satellites belong to a single operator (SpaceX).

People need to remember that deer are big, strong, and generally don't want to be pets

"Oh but my deer would never"

Deer get buck wild, that's why we have that term

Not sure the modern world is ready for "the water just doesn't go here anymore". Might be anti-ready if anything. Especially if it starts rendering cities of millions of people somewhat unviable

I love this! But tell her that she shouldn’t dress like that in the late spring and summer, which was when we filmed the movie. It was not very comfortable in the heat! 🥵 😆
We’re a “Christmas season starts after we see Santa in the Macy’s Parade” kind of family. So our first Christmas movie is always Miracle on 34th Street. My kid recognized that she is @marawilson.bsky.social character IRL and has made her whole personality trying to dress like Susan to solidify it 🤣💕
