Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

That's why I'm deeply grateful to everyone involved; thank you for this brief but unique journey. To Jon, Brian, Deniz, Peach, Marco, Stefano, and everyone involved in this project, thank you for everything, and for being so sorry for so little.

And remeber, Fix the World.

And yet, even though I'm not ready to say goodbye, I'll keep reading until the end, because for two years I've read powerful, moving, innovative, and brilliant stories that inspire me to write my own myths and tales.
Which makes the decision to end it here even sadder. The current series, The Ultimates, is so necessary in these times where fascism seems to have definitively triumphed. This work reminds us that unity, teamwork, and collaboration are the tools to overthrow those jerks in power.
At the time, the original universe was a groundbreaking proposal, not perfect but it did greatly influence how my generation and the general public perceive these characters. There are many people who are surprised to discover that the original Nick Fury was white and not the Sam Jackson version.
Even missed an opportunity to sell the Ultimate the way DC does with its pocket versions.
Marvel, on an editorial level, is appealing to a very specific audience that I doubt currently exists. This nostalgia for the '90s is strange, it's almost as if they want to replicate their own bankruptcy, heh.
Now, while I'd love Jon to write Spidey for a couple more years, I'm also not averse to the idea of rotating writers because, again, this concept allows us to create stories with a beginning, middle, and end.
Especially because this universe allows for the creation of an unlimited number of small, concrete series that don't force a new reader to, well, read several issues so as not to miss the context in which their favorite character's story unfolds.
Okay, I understand that Marvel's decision to close things out on a high note is brave, but I also think it's cowardly. Considering how many people are still interested in these characters in general, thanks in part to other media, Ultimate Universe is a great opportunity to attract potential readers
THREAD!

Okay, the End of the Ultimate Universe (from my perspective):

It’s true that the original plan was not to β€œend” the universe. A lot of my run is setting up characters I hoped would go on past me, I think I’ve made that clear and obvious.

BUT

Two kids from Cleveland launched not just an industry, but a modern mythology. All of us in comics (creators and readers) are here because of Siegel and Schuster.
Today is the birthday of writer Jerry Siegel (Oct. 17, 1914-Jan. 28, 1996). Cocreator of Superman, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, the Spectre, Doctor Occult, Slam Bradley, Robotman, the Ultra-Humanite, Brainiac 5, Bouncing Boy, and more!

This would be the most sweeping internal reform of his pontificate β€” and a dramatic continuation of Pope Francis’s legacy.
NEW: Pope Leo Set To Break Up Opus Dei
If Pope Leo does indeed approves a plan that effectively dissolves Opus Dei’s structure, it would be the most significant internal action of his short pontificate to date.
