Is it staying at the zoo permanently? If so that's pretty cool at least.
"The schedule for this work strikes me as unduly extended as if nobody really cares how long transit service will be disrupted."

I lived on King for a few years and I'm pretty sure they try to maximize how long the route is disrupted. The streetcar was running for maybe 50% of time I lived there.
More King streetcar diversions planned for next year.

NEW: Looks like CycleToronto won in court. Justice Schabas finds Ontario's law (AND version 2) to remove bike lanes infringe S7 of the Charter and is not saved by S1, in large part because the govt had no evidence to back up its claims.
I was under the impression that it was just one in the east end, but perhaps that’s changed.

That’s so cool! Montreal’s bike share system is rolling out trailers that work on BIXIs as well as personal bikes.

They’re hoping to have 50 by the end of the summer, and hundreds over the next few years.
so, ads on the via train can fuck right off

In July 1967, a section of the South Hill neighbourhood of Toronto decided to declare itself an independent republic.
It elected a queen, formed an air force of 1,000 helium balloons and issued passports.
This is the story of the Republic of Rathnelly!

Same with having to line up to have your baggage weighed and your ticket checked, before having your ticket checked again for realsies on the train.

I like the train because flying sucks. Stop trying to make it like flying.
I'll never pass up the opportunity to repost this incredible video, which is such an accurate depiction that I didn't realize it was a parody until the end.

Just one more consultation bro-
This is so depressingly unsurprising, and so pathologically Canadian.
At least Rogers had the courtesy to nuke Canada’s internet on a Friday so we could all fuck off to a friend’s cottage for the weekend.
Good news! Bell's outage page is back up.

Bad news: it's a lie.
I’m just glad there was transparency and accountability from the last major Canadian internet outage so we can all be confident that it won’t happen again.
Home Bell is down for me, Freedom on my cell is still working though.

May 19, 1965: Ontario Premier John Robarts announces in the legislature that the province will invest in a new commuter rail system. The proposed service would operate along 52 miles (84 km) of Canadian National Railway tracks from Burlington through Toronto to Dunbarton (Pickering). 1/3
Oh good, we replaced the housing minister who gets it with one who doesn’t.

This is shit. They need to do better.
In the last 72 hours, Toronto bike share stations have been on average 71% balanced, with 10% of stations full, and 20% empty.

one of the more psychotic aspects of HDMI is that it also supports (slow) ethernet

There's a motion on the TTC board agenda next week asking management to look into fixing service bunching with AI. This is hopelessly naive on two counts. First it reflects responsibility for actually doing anything. Second AI needs a valid model to learn from of which the TTC is a very bad example.
I've lived near the 504 for years and I'm pretty sure it was only functional for, at best, half that time (near me, at least).

Staggered maintenance after staggered maintenance sucks. If they actively didn't want people to ride the 504 I'm not sure what they would do differently.
"We're going to support measures that protect the Canadian economy and that help to ultimately get a deal. We wish Mr. Carney well and we're rooting for a good deal for Canada," Scheer said.

Scheer proving that has 1000x better political instincts than Poilievre.
