Society should be like The Culture. One guy whose entire job is to be great at playing games. Fuck around and change your gender for a few years. Computer that tells you everything there is to know and is kind of exasperated with you. Glands that you can secrete psychoactive drugs from on command.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

In my authority as someone who has spent the last 2 years Doing (Cuba) Stuff with Danny, I will say that this is a man who is very good at doing stuff, and we should support his campaign!
Last night I announced my intention to run for an open Assembly seat in AD-75 — and I did it in the only place I can imagine doing so: @socialists.nyc

In case anyone's wondering: National Endowment for the Humanities staff, 70% of whom were terminated this summer, are not included in the concessions for reopening the government. Only RIFs that occurred during the shutdown will be reversed.

We're still fired. And it's still wrong. #NEH
The RIF parts are good for federal workers. But they concede a lot.

Thing is, the RIFs all year were lawless. There are complex procedures to follow to use RIFs to fire people. It is clear those procedures were NOT followed. A lower court strongly ruled the RIFs were illegal. And SCOTUS dodged. 1/
The only exception to that is with respect to reductions in force (RIFs). The bill appears to both roll back RIFs announced during the shutdown and prevent any further RIFs between now and Jan 30.

My flights went off with only 1-3 hour delays which is par for the course at this stage even without a shutdown so yay. It's still a tragedy there's not a 1 hour high speed rail between Boston and NYC.
This flight happens Monday night. It's also the lowest stakes flight I have ever taken, so... shutdown crisis: do your worst
Are you detail-oriented? or are you "looking up the flight path of today's version of the flight you're booking so you can sit on the side of the airplane with the best city views" detail-oriented?

if you are upset, confused, and feeling betrayed about the democrats caving like Howe Caverns, may I suggest what I did when they failed to get a public option in the ACA back in dickitynine: read Marx, get radicalized, and devote your life to the immortal science of Marxist-Leninism

My pet theory is this kind of Guy has terminal West Wing Brain: meaning that only the speech matters, so if you make a good argument your work here is done
genuinely when you're online arguing that the graphs say the economy is good actually, what do you expect people to say? what is the end result you're hoping for? for everyone to stop complaining about their personal starvation, evictions and medical debt because a line is going up somewhere?

I love reading holiday gift guides but they need to stop recommending weird bougie chili crisp. The only chili crisp is Lao Gan Ma, with the guy on it.

Today the nurse asked my aunt what year it was, and she didn't know, but guessed 2004. Girl I wish.

[As gently as I can muster] the point is not that they don't understand the culturally expansive definition of "Aunt." They're calling him a liar. "It didn't happen." "It wasn't that bad." "She deserved it" etc

I am so proud of my DSA comrades on delegation 🥲 You all stretched yourselves be on this trip, and to listen, learn and grow in your understanding of Cuban socialism. I'm so excited to see what we will do together to lift the blockade.
