Star Trek, DC Comics, Tolkien and Pratchett universes (all sci-fi+fantasy) are my thing… I was there painting D&D die-cast miniatures when it was born. 🖖🚀🧙‍♂️🦸🏻‍♂️ Sadly, politics now too... and I mean SADLY!

And a UK PM that says he shares many family values with and is a good guy (that’s a QUOTE).

We’re living in volatile times and each individual tribe isn’t helping matters. Particularly where the US Nazi President is concerned.

and unique etc...

That in itself tends to feed tribalism of one sort or another and can lead to one (or a group) feeling exceptional by comparison.

I'll just end that there... 😏👁️

There is an extremely thin line between the two and it's a different scenario of emotion for different countries, based on differing details.

I've always felt that the emotion specifically associated to 'Pride' is one to always be wary of. More times than not it's connected to feeling "special"
True

My bad 😬

But you know what I mean
Indeed, we didn’t manage to beat any of the away games against Newcastle Utd, West Ham Utd or Fulham last season. We’ve played all three of those already, and we’ve won them all.

This is different!
He’s not cut out for football at this level.Far and beyond whether or not his football skills as a coach are worthy of elite football, it’s more his lack of understanding how the media/journalism in football works at this level. He can’t take criticism and doesn’t seem to accept what all this entails
What we’ve become is the antithesis of everything we offered with the London Olympics. Never did I feel so proud than at that moment.

That’s one of the greatest examples of a healthy form of patriotism imo.

One of the real joys of Europe is that people can be passionate about being French, or Dutch, or whatever, and at the same time hugely enjoy experiencing the food and culture and literature and thought of other countries. It can be ‘and…and’ instead of ‘or…or’.

It’s a very good thread and you know a lot more than me as does Niall.

I genuinely don’t feel Niall is for cherrypicking at all. In fact he has spoken out against it many times. It’s all very complexed and I don’t want to get into individualising these things.

I am 100% against cherrypicking. 100%
This is what happens when you have absolutely no identity.

I completely comprehend and sympathise with the fact they inherited a nation that was massacred at every angle by the previous government.

But you cannot attempt to play on all fronts. It doesn’t work with anyone. Hence all of this.
Policy voting is how it should be. How it once used to be.

This is a new era… we have to study how the far-right work, how they function and use that to create our own chaos.

This (imo) is the only way remaining. It’s risky, but I’m voting Green in any ballot box exercise that arrives.
I’m not informed enough with these details. But I’m sure @nialloconghaile.bsky.social can explain his theory.

I don’t know mate.

I come at the angle through a raw intent on battling not just the far-right. But those that ONLY want the EU because their FoM was taken away. I dislike them as much.
You’re correct that it’s almost wholly an English issue, but Westminster is in London, and London is the capital of the UK. Wales are also something to take into consideration because it’s a mixed bag there.

We have to go beyond tactical voting. We have to innovate and risk with collaboration.
As disgusted as I am with this Labour government. I would vote for them again with the scenario we had at that moment. Not even hindsight fixes that necessity.

Labour being in power now can be used as a tool for what needs to be done in the distant future.

We have a bit of time to play with. 🤞🏻
We can all adjust and move accordingly Gyles. The scene we now have globally is chaotic in this sense, but the collapse of the UK on every platform is a unique scenario. Shuffling the pack with the UK and the EU right now is a hard area to decipher accurately all of the time.
But I believe those UK areas will read the writing on the wall. We HAVE to go a different way. Tactical voting isn’t a remedy… it’s a delay tactic right now.

We have to search for a cure.

Forcing collaboration between various political liberal sectors is how it needs to be executed. It’s risky!
I believe this 100%. As quirky and risky as it may sound… risk is the only thing remaining in our armoury for the UK electorate.

We have to create a strategy that’s based on emotion and beliefs like the far-right and then compliment it with an ambush style mentality to force an agenda. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I support Niall on everything he says because he takes the overall picture in relation to an issue that’s unique to the UK and what’s happening in the UK.

It’s extremely difficult to dissect and relate everything UK/EU right now because of the societal mayhem and politics in the UK presently.
Can someone please make any sense of that and how could the EU even accept a hypothetical rejoining of the UK when they would have the potential of mayhem in our politics with the VERY PERSON that drove Brussels absolutely mad back then.

Come on!

We have to sort ourselves out first. FINAL!
This is what I was saying the other day on another comment and I was vilified for it and accused of giving up.

How is that giving up?

Look at the prediction polls right now. It’s all chaotic!

• Majority for rejoining (apparently)

and also

• Majority for a far-right anti-EU party like Reform

🤷🏻‍♂️
Never forget that day... Waking up to go to school and having heard the wind battering against the house all night. I recall looking out of the window and our road was devastated with trees downed and watching gloating bins all over the place. Needless to say school was cancelled that day in the end

Oops - The 🇺🇸 US has dropped out of the Top 10 in the rankings of the world’s “most powerful passports” for the first time in 20 years.

In 2014, the American passport was unrivalled at No. 1, but dropped this year 12th place, tied with Malaysia. 😂

This is actually a good thing! Hopefully many (ALL if possible) Brits like that emigrate to the US. That would definitely mean the end of the far-right here, Reform and of course, Fartage.
