Star Trek, DC Comics, Tolkien and Pratchett universes (all sci-fi+fantasy) are my thing… I was there painting D&D die-cast miniatures when it was born. 🖖🚀🧙‍♂️🦸🏻‍♂️

More than 2,500 Starbucks workers are on strike. They’re demanding dignity: fair pay, safe conditions, a contract that respects their labor.

It’s time their voices are heard at the same volume as CEOs earning millions.

"Funnier" part of all this is/was when someone said to your face they were voting/voted for it, because "inmigrants", then looked at you/your partner and said "but is not about you". Of course it is. Half of the times I was told this... I was in MY country. Then "it was not about xenophobia". Ha!

They want the EU/MSs to look the other way while they live illegally here and without paying taxes.

I wonder how they view illegal immigrants that don’t pay taxes in the UK. Not favourable I would imagine. It is entitlement. Some of them can’t even see it.

Even the Brexit-backing right recognises the mistake of Brexit.

They don't offer any way out for the UK. You can still feel the arrogant pride in this article.

Humility is required, realism about consequences such as giving up trade deals, and positivity about Europe.
Time to admit the truth: Brexit has been an unmitigated economic failure
Leaving the EU has reduced Britain’s GDP by up to 8pc, according to a devastating US study

Two nice companion pieces on Brexit and where UKG is at.

It is not pretty reading.

It very much appears as if Labour are past the point of no return on Europe, and of not being returned by voters.

On Político's firstly, you get a clear sense that leaving 🇪🇺 is a tremendously bad Idea.

The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as ‘Benefits Street’, while the same people are moaning about a tax on £2m mansions. Shameful stuff.

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.

No certainly not

The exceptionalists only look at Europe as a means to an end, nothing more

Just like Brexiters the idea co of a community of nations is anathema to them

The idea here is that we could try to bully the likes of Estonia or Slovenia into supporting our demands….it won’t happen

This is an unusual and thought-provoking analysis of the US economy (both the figures and the psychological response) that may well apply more widely. Definitely worth reading.
This is a fabulous read. The figures might be specific to the USA, but the principle applies wherever neocapitalism has been applied. Read it, and feel it in your bones.

Rachel Reeves says there’s a “hole” in the public finances.

A new decade-long Brexit study explains it:

a 6–8% hit to GDP – that's £180bn-£240bn a year – means less tax, less investment and less money for everything else.

Brexit made Britain poorer. Much poorer.
