I am NOT a proof-texter -- the Bible is vast and made up of LOTS of different perspectives -- that's why it's so challenging (and rewarding) to read and interpret responsibly, which I don't think Rev. Lose did here.

1) Advocating a specific position on an issue of public policy is not inherently partisan. If your church's congregants have that perception, then a) they are probably feeling called out OR b) you need to prioritize education around the church's history and role in affecting social change.
