The Law Commission says it’s time to update the outdated & ableist definition of “disabled child” in the Children Act 1989.

They recommend using the Equality Act definition (with extensions) to simplify the law & make social care fairer

Absolutely incredible (but predictable) that Reform couldn’t be bothered to attend the #SEND debate in Westminster today.

So many MP’s have pointed to their absence and also that they should apologise for their comments about ‘parents hijacking and gaming the system’.

Shame on Reform.

@charlotte2153.bsky.social My child’s EHCP was issued without updated health or PfA input. No support for anxiety, mobility, or transition.
Delays. Vague provision. No accountability. This isn’t a one-off. It’s systemic. We need public SEND services, not patchwork fixes.

This is an important opportunity for MPs to learn and for families to tell representatives how they want the SEND system to change.

We will be following drop-in closely and later this week sharing a round-up for what MPs and families discussed and what we want to see happen next.
