US insurers are almost certainly slavering over the idea they can declare having ever had Covid a pre-existing condition and make customers prove that whatever they have now wasn't in some way caused and/or exacerbated by it.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

Most videos promoting an actual gambling site or app are NOT gonna use the word gambling. Going after videos with the word in the title is so utterly fucking stupid and useless.

You’re pretty much guaranteed to *only* hit videos criticizing this shit.

Update: YouTube straight up removed another video about loot boxes. They’re just hitting anything that mentions gambling regardless of context.

What a ridiculous platform.
YouTube restricted an old video about loot boxes being restricted by gambling laws under the “sale of regulated goods policy.”

Yes YouTube, my vids famously “depict or promote” gambling. Those years of anti-loot box videos were secretly pro-loot box the entire time, you ridiculous dumbfuck site 😂.

It’s just the little things, but apparently the line of people lining up near Town Hall to donate blood is so long they’re moving the O- donors to the front of the queue.

Naah, make it like cricket where the whole team ends up rubbing the ball against things between plays so it wears out exactly the right way over the course of the game.

/r/programming is getting dystopian on us. Also, I feel that for practical reasons, an execution can only hope for "at-most-once".

I was once at an annual off-site for a previous employer. Everyone in Product/Engineering bemoaned that year’s terrible, user-hostile decision to implement auto-play video ads, then the finance guy went over the numbers and explained how if we hadn’t, none of us would still have jobs.
It’s so cool that every website is just Like This now. We used to send guys to the chair for putting pop-up ads on their sites. Now if I want to read something I have to read single lines between autoplaying video ads that use so much RAM they force the browser to reload every 5 seconds.

The transphobic grift is so much like creationists saying “if we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys” secure in the knowledge they’ll never have to hear, or acknowledge, the obvious answer.
Ana Kasparian claims the left turned on her over her opposition to being called a "birthing person".

Ana Kasparian: "I don't have kids, I don't want to have kids, and I don't want to be called a 'birthing person', I find it super insulting."

Here’s an article from this year with the Australian gun lobby boasting that, with surging gun numbers, it was winning the fight against firearms control advocates. Blame guns. Blame anti-Semitism. Blame terrorists. Do not blame everyday Australians who marched for peace.
Australia’s gun lobby says it’s ‘winning’ the fight against firearm control as numbers surge
There are now more than 4m guns in the community – almost double the number recorded in the years after the Port Arthur massacre that prompted a national crackdown

So there is already an ai-generated whitewashing campaign to bury the name of the Muslim man, Ahmed al Ahmed, who disarmed one of the Bondi Beach shooters, and replace his identity with a white guy name and that’s why even a thimble of our potable water powering this tech is too fucking much.

> extreme ends of human survivability.

When I was growing up in Perth, if the forecast was for over 100F, we were allowed to come to school without our ties.

This rule lasted about a day before we were told no, ties were not optional.

I’ve never understood the argument that Fahrenheit was magically chosen to be the perfect human scale, because 0F is “you are going to die if you don’t take extreme precautions”, while 100F is “a summer’s day in Australia.”

Then it becomes a question of who gets to decide someone is an arsehole, and on what grounds. At which point you have a code of conduct.

Yup.

And the "rich people will be rich again, because they understand financial literacy!" is just not true. We've seen it many times.

First, because as I've said before, there is no such thing as financial literacy. It's a lie. There's no one set of info for making money at all levels. Seriously.

A DM-ing lesson I learned way late was “give the players the game they want”.

If your players say “I try to seduce the dragon”, it’s because they want this to be the kind of game where they can fuck the dragon. Or at least where trying to fuck the dragon moves the story in an interesting direction
