Grateful to the Arroyo Vista Elementary Bike Bus for welcoming CalBike into the ride — and for my very cool new spoke card.

Most Americans actually want bike lanes — the data just caught up.

Thanks to YouGov for the data.

On September 9, the U.S. Department of Transportation canceled grants for bike lanes and safer intersections because they were “hostile to motor vehicles.” That language reveals more than bias it exposes a belief that safety itself is a threat to the status quo. www.calbike.org/dots-dead-en...

Have always been confused by the woodchips on the greenbelt - seems like an accessibility issue.

DYK that the nighttime fatality rate on U.S. roadways is three times higher than the daytime rate, and 76% of pedestrian fatalities occur at night? Visit the FHWA for more nighttime visibility for safety resources: www.fhwa.dot.gov/innovation/e... #PedestrianSafetyMonth

New bikeway on your route? The signs aren’t just decoration they’re the code that tells you where you belong. Knowing the MUTCD basics helps you ride with confidence and keeps drivers accountable.

Same thing here - took going to the Van Nuys office in person for me.

The future of “self-driving” isn’t about hype or investor slides. It’s about what happens when a child on a bike swerves near the curb.

If companies want to market autonomy, they should prove publicly that their systems protect vulnerable road users.

Walk Bike Berkeley has done the hard work of analyzing the plan and raising concerns that it could delay, not deliver, the safety improvements Berkeley voters demanded with Measure FF.

One of the biggest things we want readers to take away from “Life After Cars” is that learning to *see* cars is step one on the path to realizing a better world.

I was walking down a street in New York and I thought how lovely it was, with the trees and the light. Tried to take a photo and this came out. It’s incredible how blind we become to the ugliness of cars. They really do mess things up. Yet somehow we manage to filter them out.

From “be brave” to “welcome in.” LA is testing concrete protection on 3rd (Main → Spring). Santa Monica built theirs in a day. Tell LADOT to scale it—take the 3rd Street survey by Oct 31. form.typeform.com/to/mKQsn7LQ

Seems pretty simple

It’s frustrating—but not final. We’re pressing Caltrans on Complete Streets, supporting local e-bike programs, and building toward 2026, when California chooses a new governor. The fight for safer streets isn’t over.
