The 27 members pressing the Trump admin to free an American teen from Israeli detention cite a similar case as warning:

17-year-old Palestinian Walid Ahmad, like Mohammed, was detained for months without charges, facing abuse & poor conditions.

In March, he collapsed and died.
NEW — 27 members of Congress press Marco Rubio & Mike Huckabee to free Palestinian-American teen Mohammed Ibrahim from Israeli detention.

They also note Israeli settlers killed Mohammed's cousin, Sayfollah, a 20-year-old US citizen, in July — and Israeli authorities haven't arrested anyone for it.

It’s even more extreme than that if you want full self-sufficiency. The average US diet requires ~2 acres of land (cropland + pasture)/person/year. So a family of 4 would need ~8 acres.

(It’s less if you eat more plants/fewer animal proteins than avg American, but it’s still a looooot of land.)
On Threads, the usual suspects are telling ppl about to lose SNAP benefits to just start a garden. As a gardener, I had to laugh. You need at LEAST an acre of land to feed a family of 4. Start-up costs are enormous. But yes, subsistence farming on the balcony of your rental apartment is the answer

Today, the White House Press Secretary told the country that this ridiculous damn ballroom is “the president’s main priority”…not reopening the government, not lowering the cost of groceries, not lowering the cost of housing, not lowering the cost of healthcare….building a ballroom
It is depressing to see what this country has become.

The alleged grown ups will get in front of y'all and tell you the failures are not the results of fundamentally shitty decision making. that puts broken shitty software into situations where it can cause real harm.

I challenge anyone to name an individual or organization, religious or secular, or billionaire more responsible for our current state of affairs than Leonard Leo.

Perhaps. Except that I happen to be in an area that is always seems to practice their craft. These taken on such a day.

Did you read and of the alt text in the first set I shared? Either first hand accounts, or gov docs not a single conspiracy.

Unfortunately, both Judge Berzon in her dissent, and California in the oral argument today, assert that "the regular forces" in 12406 refers to *civilian law enforcement* personnel. That's incorrect, and thus they're overlooking the best argument against Trump's deployment of the National Guard. [1]

The full 9th Circuit just voted NOT to rehear en banc the panel decision in Newsom v. Trump re: federalized troops in Los Angeles. (The motion for rehearing en banc in the Oregon v. Trump case is still pending.)

No Republican appointees joined the dissent.

I for one think the Epstein Ballroom will be magnificent. I love the decor theme of “what if Uday Hussein ran a Ramada Inn.” And giving it a theme song everyone will associate with it is a stroke of brilliance! “Thank Heaven for Little Girls” is very catchy.

Here in New York, dozens of federal agents, many of them with face coverings, flooded Lower Manhattan Tuesday afternoon as they targeted immigrant street vendors, most of them from Africa. As news spread of the raids, several people took to the streets in protest.

MIT rejects "compact" proposed by the Trump administration.
MIT prez wrote: it "would restrict freedom of expression and our independence as an institution" and "is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone."

Just a reminder: Many PFAS are well-known to be associated with neurological, immune, developmental, and reproductive problems, and cancers. Even types of PFAS that are designed or thought to be "safer" usually have some level of associated toxicity/carcinogenicity. 3/3 🧪
