Yes, just spending a ton on players usually won't win titles if there aren't owners, coaches, managers, etc. who make sound decisions & have a good long-term vision.

If just signing expensive talent guaranteed titles, Mets would be a lock for the World Series. 😂 Dodgers had one of best reg-season records, they couldn't get that by coasting. And spending $$ doesn't matter if a team has bad coaching/mgt.

Maybe MLB needs a salary cap like some other sports.

FWIW, Brew Crew had (a few) more reg-season wins than Dodgers. And than the Cubs (against whom they lost a 2-games-to-0 lead). They just seem to be having a rather sub-par postseason.

Lots of teams spend big bucks to try to win a title. Dodgers happen to have been successful at it last season (& maybe this one). They're the only one of the four top-spending teams still in the playoffs.

The top-spending team (ahem, the Mets) didn't make the postseason at all.
