Welcome to my account, which is just Star Trek, cats, general nonsense, and trans & queer stuff.

It’s ludicrous to require qualifications that people who happened to be born here don’t need to achieve. Down with nation states!

Obviously I’m delighted that @levarburton.bsky.social is now a CILIP Honorary Fellow (have I ever mentioned that I love reading, libraries and Star Trek?) but would like to congratulate all the 2025 Honorary Fellows

🎉Congratulations to LeVar Burton, Jo Cornish, Kevin Mehmet and Julie Bell our 2025 Honorary Fellowship recipients.

Four inspiring individuals who exemplify excellence across the library and information profession.

🚨This is an emergency🚨

This Government is currently sitting on an EHRC Code of Practice that will lead to the segregation and exclusion of trans people in public life.

My brain mostly behaved, still chronic daily migraines of course but I was very well distracted and temporarily removed from all the news and terrible things

Had a blast at the @starfuryevents.bsky.social Warp One Star Trek fan convention this weekend. Lots of love & community, a place where we’re all in welcomed & appreciated. This is why Star Trek is my best escapism, it offers hope of a better world. Heading home with severe post-con comedown…

I just removed a terfy sticker from a lift at Euston station, very satisfying. #transrights #noterfs

I spilt coffee on the carpet today too but the Premmy is smart and has stain-coloured carpets…

Prospect union members got an email today about a data breach that happened in June. Way too late and seemingly not enough information shared with members.
Not particularly impressed with our union lately and this doesn’t help…
clairemullaly.bsky.social
This impacts around 150k people. Importantly - confidential equality data including protected characteristics, including trans people's identities, were breached in June. Members of this union and Prospect Union were told today, almost 4 months later. The Information Commissioner's Office ..

The joys of tower block seaside living during a storm - it’s stunningly noisy, the sea is incredibly dramatic, and there’s been damage to some windows. Everyone is safe however.

Don’t open your windows during a storm if you live in a tower block near the sea…

The tambourine has its place, for example when played by an expert percussionist like Jack Ashford on hundreds of Motown records. But its place should be limited.

You’d think that at my age, I would know better but it’s quarter past one and I’m considering a “quick nap” with a pillow and blanket. And pyjamas. I’ll see you all at tea time.
Screengrab of social media post with the text:
guy who is definitely not about to fall into a surprise midday nap with an aftermath worse than a hangover: it seems like a really good idea to lay in bed and get cozy under the blanket as part of my plan not to fall asleep. I do not know why.

I have come to the conclusion the EHRC guidance on single sex spaces should not even come to Parliament. It is misleading and has caused distress for my trans constituents.

I urge @bphillipsonMP to reject it on grounds of practicality and human rights.

I’d love to see more live games. There’s a local inclusive rugby club, the Liverpool Tritons. I should become a super fan.
brynolf.bsky.social
I can imagine! The first time I went to a game was in Cardiff and I was nervous thinking it might be lads lads lads and it was just fine? And friendly? And all the fans mixed? My friend explained “it’s not football”
brynolf.bsky.social
Some good friends of mine always watch and got me into it, and I enjoy it now although I still can’t always follow the rules
brynolf.bsky.social
It’s not just the thighs but that helps (so superficial). I could never imagine playing myself, I’d be broken in half instantly, but I like to watch these days
brynolf.bsky.social
I never used to like rugby because of bad experiences with drunken, misogynistic, homophobic, generally awful student rugby players at uni. Here I am watching the women’s World Cup final and getting really invested.

If you’ve ever thought “the network should do this” or “I wish we could do more”, this is one way to get involved. Also good for gaining skills and experience while doing good work. Plus the world seems less terrible when we’re together and doing what we can to make it better!

Are you a library, knowledge and/or information worker who is LGBTQ+ and wants to get involved in the CILIP LGBTQ+ network? The committee is looking for a new chair, and I can highly recommend joining! Everyone on the committee is enthusiastic and engaged, the chair will have all the support

@petparent42.bsky.social are you watching the rugby this afternoon/morning?!
