Expanding on this, up until last year, I had like 700 people on my mailing list and never had any sales from it. They weren't opening emails, because 70% of the list was from a newsletter swap I did in 2021. It's why I won't ever do another swap. I want authentic follows, and authentic interaction.
I think because I joined when the app first launched, I got a big influx of followers from being added to lists, and they weren't like...intentional follows? Just mass following a bunch of trans authors lol. You're also so good at building communities too!!

I find that I get so many more spam followers on here than any other app. 1k followers but there's only a handful of you lovely people that engage with me. It's a much different vibe than Twitter and Threads.

I need a YA feel-good book called "Banned Together" based off this story ASAP.
