#NeverTrump Country Over Party. . “Change your opinions, keep to your principles; change your leaves, keep intact your roots.” - Victor Hugo

OK, it’s time. I have been biting my tongue for a while. I had a very unpleasant experience at the other place with a far left fellow who insisted on blaming NeverTrump folks like me for his sitting out the election and giving it to Trump. We understood the assignment. We did our part. 1/

Air Force One flew over my house tonight. Normally, it would be exciting. But after all that has happened… I never thought I would say this. I’m ashamed to be an American today. I really don’t know how we get out of this. The leaders that are fighting for us, where are they?

So, just to show priorities where the business channels are tonight.

Bloomberg is live- although they are usually on live 24 hours because they also focus on foreign markets.

CNBC is live now- Jim Cramer and Steve Liesman have been talking

Fox Business- reruns of COPS.

Legitimate question to ask here. We are up to at least 42 deaths and counting from the storms this past weekend. With all the layoffs at NOAA and the NWS, how many of these deaths were as a result of not being able to prepare and get early enough notice. How many could’ve been avoided?

Took a few days off. I’m back and ready to get in the fight. What I’m going to do is be more selective about the battles I pick. That’s how we get through these next four years. All battles are important, but some will matter more than others.

If anyone sees this, I’m taking a break from here. Seeing everything that’s happening is making me angrier and in danger of losing my humanity. And I feel very powerless. The guardrails that are supposed to protect our institutions are failing. And I feel politically homeless.

I’m torn at this point. Part of me wants to continue fighting. It’s going to get ugly.

But the other part of me is ready to just let MAGA have their way because that’s the only way those who voted for him will learn. Let them hit rock bottom.

Hot stove moment .

I don’t know .

From Haaretz. If this is true and the Trump envoys bullied Netanyahu into accepting the ceasefire… some of you might be cheering this right now but you won’t be in the future. Trump wants us to abandon Ukraine. Here he is pushing away our closest ally in the Middle East. 1/

Speaker Johnson’s gig is safe… at the moment. The Don needs certification to go off without a hitch. The House could not conduct any business until a Speaker is seated.

After that, all bets are off.

This morning at the other place… folks who for years encouraged the “DEI is raycist” crowd are suddenly telling those people to stop being racist. Maybe… just maybe 🤔… you should never have encouraged the racists to speak out to begin with?

Bill Ackman has been griping that the NYSE and NASDAQ will be closed on January 9 for President Carter’s National Day of Mourning. He says it didn’t close for Rep Presidents.

Spoiler alert: It was for GHWB, Reagan, Ford, Nixon…even for Lincoln which is when the practice first began.

Let’s not forget, it was on this day 39 years ago that Rocky Balboa, having vacated the world heavyweight championship to take this fight to avenge the death of his good friend Apollo Creed, knocked out Ivan Drago in Moscow and almost single-handedly ended the Cold War.

So just so I understand…

MAGA has suddenly forgot about the national debt, the price of groceries, and are now banging the drums of war to conquer Greenland, Canada, and retake the Panama Canal.

Am I doing this right?

So, I have been asking any MAGA I know…🤣🤣

The world is watching. They are extremely concerned about where the United States is now. When they feel we can no longer be trusted as a rock on the international stage, chaos follows.
In the last few weeks, a big chunk of the western world fell into a deep pit of political acid. I don’t know another way to describe it.

It’s funny how MAGA wants less regulations and lowered grocery prices. Yet RFK Jr’s wanting to clean up our food from additives, etc. (more in line with Europe) will lead to more regulations and food price is going up.

If you endorse this, keep in mind there is always a trade-off. 🙃

So, MAGA complains when Taylor Swift was seen on TV during football games, saying we need to focus on the game. Army-Navy this past weekend supposedly showed our president elect a grand total of four seconds (focused on the game). Their response?

Don’t know what to make of this. A year ago, I would think the major cable news networks would be covering the happenings in Syria. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, NewsNation… nothing tonight. Any coverage I caught on BBC News.

Thought for the day. A little silly but I think we could use this.

When we talk Christmas movies, I don’t necessarily consider TV shows like a Charlie Brown Christmas or Frosty the Snowman as a movie. I think of A Christmas Story, etc. Feature length films.

Thoughts? 🤔
