AOC: "We need to be talking about ICE agents and the cowardly policy of covering their faces
An important thread on the proposed Medicaid cuts from Congress. $700 million in cuts tossing 8 million people off insurance.

#ProtectMedicaid
Energy & Commerce text is out. Will go through it in this thread.

tl;dr: this'd be the largest Medicaid cuts in history, kicking millions off their health insurance, leading to tens of thousands of additional deaths each year

LOTS of bad stuff in this (but the very worst policy did not make it in)
It is #NationalAccessibilityBarriersDay. Here's to celebrating Public Partnerships, LLC (PPL) and their ability to make #CDPAP, a program by and for disabled folks, a beacon of inaccessibility throughout NY.

Good morning. Monday morning. In a rank choice voting system you need to rank five good apples for mayor in addition to NOT ranking Cuomo and NOT ranking Adams.

Please help spread the word! Share share share!!!! Copy and redo in your own words if you prefer!
"The President has no mandate to cut Medicaid." @algreen.house.gov speaks truth.

#Medicaid provides life saving services for millions of people. It is a critical resource lifting up our health care system. We must #ProtectMedicaid & not let the President's incivility beat our civility.

So-called "waste, fraud, & abuse" is also @govkathyhochul.bsky.social's excuse for selling out Medicaid program CDPAP to a private corporation (when CDPAP has VERY low incidence of fraud).

Hochul should be defending home care & Medicaid, but she's working hand-in-hand w Republicans to destroy it.
🔥 @aoc.bsky.social : “The numbers don’t add up. $880 BILLION is a devastating cut to Medicaid, and an attack on Medicare. Anyone who votes for this budget is voting to cut Medicaid and gut health care for Medicare recipients in 🇺🇸.”

I mean, who am I to question Emma Hayes, but of all the people Shaw could come on for, Ally Sentnor? Really? #USWNT #SheBelievesCup

NY Legislators are at home in their districts. But budget work is still happening and the travesty that is PPL is still moving forward. Call them in their district offices this week to #StopPPL. #SaveCDPAP and #ProtectHomeCare

Has everyone seen this investigative article by Caring Majority leader, Michael Solow, on the transition of New York's CDPAP program to private-equity-backed corporation, PPL?

It's one of the best overviews of the situation—how it came about and the problems with PPL.

#NYSenatirGustavoRivera on CDPAP - how many workers are there?

@nysdoh.bsky.social Medicaid Director says "we don't know but we think between 200-300k" Senator notes 280k consumers, likely at least 1 per.
@nysdoh.bsky.social Medicaid Director just flatly stated in response to @harveyepstein.bsky.social that "nobody will lose their services."

A seeming promise. That definitely will not come back to bite him.
@nysdoh.bsky.social Commissioner just admitted the transition in #CDPAP might not happen timely. Only 22k have "completed" transition. That is 1 in 14.

Still says there is no Plan B. Puts onus on managed care plans to pay workers if the transition doesn't happen. Directly? How?
Commissioner says higher hospital and nursing home rates are needed to solve lack of hospital discharges and hospital overcrowding.

What about home care & #CDPAP and keeping people out of hospitals and nursing homes to begin with?
This is despicable. 100%.

No less despicable is refusing to impose greater taxes on the wealthy to make sure everyone has access to healthcare, high quality education, quality housing, social services, etc...

Both parties are guilty of that.
