This is a screen grab from a video from last year because I’m terrible at remembering to take photos. This shelf is also too bulky and I’m looking into something better, but in general, upright and very visible seems to do the best.

(By flat I mean in a dish or on a raised platform, I try not to put much directly on the table itself)

I’ve found that if I have them flat on the table they don’t do great, but if I have them on a little shelf more vertically (and with a big sign that says STICKERS) they are much more likely to sell. Also they do better packaged than loose, but I have mixed feelings about excessive packaging 😒

These are the kinds of small businesses that we should all be going out of our way to support year round but especially at the holidays. Mikael is an important part of her local community, hosting events, sharing seeds and plant knowledge, and helping any way she can. What a wonderful human.

She also has a self-care locker outside that she keeps stocked with all sorts of necessary items that are free for anyone who needs them. And she grows a lot of the botanicals she uses in her soaps in her own garden, both outside the shop and at her home!

I would like to add that if you live in the city, this is such a wonderful neighbourhood shop. All Mikael’s self care items are made by her in house (literally on the days the shop is closed) and she also supports lots of other local makers by carrying their products and hosting pop-ups!

I’m doing a wee little pop-up at my friend’s studio shop this Saturday!

11-5 at Sage and Thistle Handmade Goods (2a rogers road, Toronto)
A handlettered promo poster for my next event! It reads:

Oct 18th!!

The little ghost in the middle is in a pink burst shape. And his smile has himbo vibes. The background is black, the lettering is white and there are glowing white sparkles everywhere which is a gimmick I do to fill up blank spaces and is probably becoming too much of a crutch at this point if I’m being honest.

Yeah! This kinda was a big part of my gig before ceramics sucked me in
britterson.bsky.social
Thank you! I was very proud of that bit.

I don’t know if this comes across, because sadly these posts are usually my least engaged with across all social media platforms, but I LOVE making promo posters for myself. It kinda breaks my heart that they don’t get much love because I work so hard on them and I love them so much.

Some of the goodies I’m bringing with me!
Two ceramic red strawberry pins (brooches) on an oatmeal coloured, knitted sweater collar. The background is green. Probably the best trinket dish I’ve ever made. It’s longish. Has a scalloped detail running around the rim. The inner graphic is of cartoon oak leaves with a yellow to green gradient (I used a sponge like I was Debbie Travis in 1997!) on the oak leaves rests a brown acorn and a yellow and purple snail. It’s a very cute snail. I hold treasure aloft. A bud vase, smaller than my palm, with a stylized green vine wrapping around it. The vine is growing shiny red, small tomatoes. The background is the same green of the vine which was not at all on purpose but this is the only place I’ll admit it and most people aren’t reading these.

I’m also haunted by your lettering choices but just like a smol haunting.

And also probably last week.

Haunted by lettering choices I made in my youth.

I considered downloading the app just to check (so I could rat them out to the organizers of that particular fair) and then decided that was more effort than I was willing to put into it.

On top of that, at least here in Toronto, I’ve been seeing people reselling crocheted items from Temu. Listing them waaaay cheaper than any single crocheter here could afford to make a similar item for.

So i’m working on a playlist for the holiday market I’m organizing and I just realized that the opening to Last Christmas (wham) is giving Thomas the Tank Engine.

Getting some serious product concept work done at this market right now.
A very scribbly doodle of me (a lady with big glasses and longish poofy hair) in pink pen, and I have tiny horns

Is everyone out here walking like they were born on a horse so they don’t fall down?! I don’t understand what I am doing wrong
britterson.bsky.social
I am wearing wide pants rn and they have tripped me 4x today, 2 of which were almost catastrophic (like falling into oncoming traffic). I am wearing leggings tomorrow.

If you’re in Toronto, these will be with me at The Ownr x Welcome Market collab at the corner of Queen west and Shaw. Right across from the Flower Market that is also happening this weekend at camH.

I know I’ve said this before but, I have definitely peaked this time.
My hand holding 4 cartoon crocodile ceramic charms (these ones are for your crocs!) each one has a different goofy face.

I hadn’t eaten yet today either, so even tho I accidentally fell asleep, I woke up to food and hugs from everyone who got home while I was passed out so that was very nice.
