I sign on here once a week or so to post, but I've been using all social media less lately. I suppose it's just not as alluring to me as it used to be. Even though there is still a ton of interesting content, drinking from a fire hose for years gets exhausting, regardless of the platform.

"Jumble"

Inspired by folks with careful and quiet compositions of the southwest, I've always wanted a nice photo of some of the beautiful boulders that tumble down from high canyon walls.

Thanks for the idea! I'd never switched my monitor into HDR mode before and it looks significantly different.
This is a fantastic ultrawide composition! I really enjoy the way the river lines up with the path, and how the curve of the path fits in the bottom of the frame just right. The light on the mountains and the sky ain't hurtin' neither.

Right! I think it also heightens your ability to be (more) objective about which photos are high quality and worthy of processing, publishing, and sharing. That's what I tell myself to keep the nightmares away, anyway.
Very kind of you to share, thanks!

A very nice collection of quiet, graceful imagery!
I haven't been online much but I have been busy creating new photos, including some from winter in Rocky Mountain National Park. You can find an essay about the trip and many more photos here: smallscenes.com/blog/winter-...

New photos and writing coming soon - subscribe to my newsletter to see!

It's a collection of photos I made while backpacking in some canyons with Eric Bennett. We ended up having quite an adventure. I wrote a journal about it, in case you're curious about our gnarly adventures.

I took this photo in White Sands National *Monument* in 2017 (it became a park in 2019). I never really did anything with it but now I think it's a perfect candidate for this project. I still enjoy it after 8 years, which I can't say about all of my old work!
I was interviewed again on We Talk Photo! It's always an honor to chat about nature photography and creativity for a podcast.
Our latest podcast episode is live and We Talk Photo with Brent Clark. A wonderful photographer who is thoughtful in his creations. Listen in as we talk about his process and his experiences in creating his great work.
