all i have to say now is…WHO’S NEXT??
things they said we couldn’t do:

- get our 40 hour weeks back
- get union coverage for out-of-state remote workers
- have prod in the union

a UNION, all of US, made all those things happen
my prod coworkers fought for over 2 years to organize, join TAG, and bargain their 1st union contract. Disney dragged them through a punitive and ridiculous NLRB unit eligibility hearing, dragged feet through negotiations, but they persisted. now all workers at WDAS are stronger for their efforts!

i can’t believe seemingly stupid things like a longer headphone cable and an input switcher with a pleasing button click can improve my home office experience this much. we take the small wins where we can
beyond his physical skill and achievements, the stuff that awes me most in things i read about Ichiro are his work ethic and consistency. incredible stuff. unanimous ballots are meaningless, Ichiro is undeniable

this is something i think about a lot as a multi-term elected representative of a labor union that is growing and adapting in ways we hadn’t imagined a decade ago.
a piece from just before the election, sticking with me through TAG contract ratification:

“You don’t have to be an incrementalist to understand that change is as slow as it is necessary and the tactics we choose are, ultimately, not a statement of our values.”

We’ve been watching the Watch Duty team do absolutely *unbelievable* technical work all week (they’re members of our Fast Forward open source program), handling a surge of millions of people trying to see where the fires are in real time. There are still people who do such good on the internet.
