The Democrats may not be great on campaign financing, media ownership, or various forms of corruption but the other side is objectively far worse.

No one who was genuinely concerned about any of those issues would vote Republican unless they were *profoundly* stupid.

Maybe they have just enough self-awareness to realize that Trump won't be President forever, and if they sign an agreement that turns them into a propaganda arm of the Executive branch then they will eventually be carrying water for some Democratic administration instead of the current guy.

Honestly that’s probably giving Bezos too much credit. Just because he wanted to controls the media narrative doesn’t mean he wanted the paper gone entirely, just as Musk didn’t really want Twitter gone entirely.

These people really are just as bad at running things as they appear to be.

I don't think Trump actually believes in heaven and hell because that would imply a belief in a being greater than himself. But for someone egomaniacal and narcissistic as Trump, the prospect of fading into oblivion after death is probably at least as terrifying as the prospect of eternal torment.

The skill sets necessary for being a good actor or even a good person are not necessarily the skill sets needed to be an effective governor. Even freaking Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger got in at least *some* practice with political activism and public service before seeking that job.
