I say it over and over again: when you have that much money, you want to live where you want to live and you are simply not going to relocate because of marginal tax rates

Alan Dershowitz will never leave Martha’s Vineyard and they won’t even sell him a pierogi
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Something the US needs to accept too is that without a large-scale correction imposing consequences on a large number of people, the crisis of governance here will continue indefinitely

I don’t what to say about a Dem leadership that can be undone by the likes of Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen. Saying they went over Schumer’s head is not the flex people think it is.

Tim Kaine has voted to reopen the government in exchange for a promise to have a vote on ACA subsidies, the backpay to workers that was already legally required, and seven magic beans.

Exactly right. And they're betting there won't be any consequences in primaries. People will be mad, then Trump will do some bad shit, and people will move on to cheering blue no matter who. I'm taking the other side of that bet.

If you’re a Dem who can’t even be bothered to stay strong for healthcare for the poor then I don’t see much point to you and I will make it my life’s mission to get Dems elected who will.

If you think I won’t remember in four years when you’re up for reelection, guess what chucklefuck.

We’ve entered the piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining phase of the Dems caving.
One of the talking points I keep seeing from Democrats is that part of the deal is that it will "ensure federal workers receive back pay" but that's the existing law!

That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

On top of allowing bigotry to run unchecked through our society, this is yet another case of shoddy reasoning by the majority undermining the long term strength of the Supreme Court.

Fuck, and I cannot of stress this enough, these lazy bigots.

Jackson in dissent is 100% correct.
BREAKING: SCOTUS lets Trump administration implement anti-trans, anti-nonbinary passport policy.

The Democratic appointees, led by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, dissented. The ruling, which applies during litigation, effectively reverses two lower court rulings.
