Agreed; it was originally a legitimate, operational public order and public/stadium safety concern from the relevant regional police constabulary, based on their professional risk-assessment (which a recent domestic Israeli football incident has proved to be well-founded). No Govt input necessary.

The Tel Aviv derby between Maccabi and Hapoel could not be played today in Tel Aviv as the Israeli fans injured rival fans and the police. The game was abandoned at half-time in January. The Israeli police & authorities have struggled to contain the conduct of fans

Apropos of nothing, I really do think UK journalists and politicians need some reminding that mass deportation of LEGAL immigrants, particularly those with permanent status, is far more extreme than even Trump's America and would basically place Britain completely on its own among democracies.

Everybody: please stop mentioning that Farage was regularly on Russia Today, a channel now banned for its Russian propaganda content, blamed the EU for Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2014, had a Russian spy running his Welsh operation, and built his whole career on a policy Putin supports.
