But idk as a STEM major you had no choice but to come to class. Missing one day of cellular and molecular biology was like missing a week. Maybe humanities professors need to get more strict.

Some students nowadays just simply don’t care or they never even wanted to go off to college more so their parents pushing them to attend. If you come in knowing exactly what you want to do then you won’t bs. They need direction not more assignments. (spoken from a now senior undergraduate).
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.
