I've said it before, but it's worth repeating given everything happening now.

Survival is an act of defiance. Every breath, every heartbeat is an expression of your sheer force of will to endure and overcome. Keep at it.

ICE descended upon Columbus, OH this week. In this footage from 12/21/25, ICE is detaining someone without a warrant and threatening to detain a citizen who is peacefully attempting to film the situation.

ICE is in Columbus Ohio & suburbs too (bc Columbus has city ordinance 1304-2017, prohibiting CPD from assisting them).
They’re moving at a much faster pace picking up POC in minutes and speeding away. Citizens are mobilizing & organizing. Midwest nice until we see ICE.✊

LLMs aren't taking your jobs (for the most part).

At the largest companies, *spending* on LLMs are what is causing the layoffs.

At the smaller companies, they're playing follow the leader - some because they realize they can cut without stigma. Others believe the hype of LLMs.

In Columbus, Ohio, the CPD has straight up stated they WON'T be turning any information over to ICE, nor assisting in arrests. ICE did call the CPD for "noise violations" from protesters. The CP showed up to "investigate"... and left their lights and sirens on the whole time.

Regan-like boom? I was alive in the 80s. That wasn't a boom. That was nearly a depression where I lived.

So he might be like. We are indeed heading for something similar if not far far worse...

The number of racist assholes in this city boggles my mind.

Ice is in town in force and so many people are cheering them on.

Thankfully, a lot of people are against them, but there are too many people who think it's a good thing.

One of the crappiest trends I'm seeing in my mentorship sessions today is people getting laid off from large corporations after 20-40 years of silo right now. It's really appalling if not unexpected.

If you've been somewhere over 5, 10, 20 years it's worth looking at your employability elsewhere.

And apparently ice is in my city now.

They need to get the hell out of my city.

At least the mayor and city council have stated that they will not allow the police to assist them. Let's see if the cops actually listen because Columbus PD is well known to be a problem in a lot of ways

LLMs really need to go away already.

The sooner the bubble pops, the better it will ultimately be - because the longer this goes on, the more industries and people are going to be impacted when it finally does...

Didn't the Dems cave precisely because they were "promised" there would at least be a vote, and we told them all not to fall for it, but they did, and here we now are?
BREAKING: Mike Johnson just said he won't call a vote this year to extend enhanced subsidies under the Affordable Care Act — effectively guaranteeing they will expire at the end of this month.

One thing I've noticed over the course of my career - there is a real lack of developers that understand security even at a cursory level

Even better is that it's incredibly difficult to get orgs to realize why they should care, even if you put it in business/financial terms.
