One of my theories about #writing is about the idea that evil villains need a reason to be that way, that the notion some people are evil and simply are that way is unrealistic. I think it is realistic, but it’s too uncomfortable for many of us. We want evil to be explainable, and I think… (1/2)

How do even 45% of republicans think trump is doing fine with the Epstein Case??? I honestly think these people would swallow cyanide if he told them to. It really is a cult.

96% of black women voters chose Spanberger over Earle-Sears. As excited as I am about last night’s results in Virginia (what a night!), the rest of us need to quit putting the weight of saving our democracy on Black women. Time and again, they do the homework and show up when the rest of us don’t.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.
At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

Being a 911 dispatcher is mostly routine. You’d be shocked how not stressful the job is. We all have our weak spots, though. Calls with kids have always messed me up, but those calls are rare. These days, calls about the elderly with dementia… those blindside me a lot more than they used to.

Just started KATABASIS by @rfkuang.bsky.social , because like my book TO HELL AND BACK, our stories focus on mortals going to Hell on a quest. A few chapters in, it’s fun to see how we both latched onto similar concepts and twisted them in such different directions. Love what she’s done here.
Off-the-Page #Outlining offers a way to add tension into a story. Not every book requires this, but sometimes outlining what’s happening beyond the scope of your POV character(s) can make things more exciting by forcing your main character to react to others more. #Writersky #NaNoWriMo
