that's why shards exist, to disincentivize spam. learning a boss should also come w learning when it's better to use a tool and when it's more optimal for you to just keep hitting them w ur needle. usually it just comes down to "is it in the air" or "can i get to it in time before they move"

i think a lot of ppl simply misunderstand the purpose of tool shards and the actual usage of tools in silksong. tools aren't usually supposed to be the end all be all of ur gameplan (architect crest notwithstanding) they should be a supplement to the damage u deal w silk skills and the needle
