we would like to take this moment to shout out the MTA @mta.maryland.gov who can't get the busses to run on time AND can't train their bus drivers to not be homophobic. truly inspiring leadership from @mdotmtaholly.bsky.social 🙏

Gorsuch is such a specific Type Of Guy it's hard to convey. For additional context, another way to think about this is that the University of Utah dropped the r-slur and secured tribal approval for "Utes" a full 50 years before the washington football team renamed.
never ceases to amaze me that a big reason gorsuch is like that is because he’s from the mountain west and it’s part of the history and news there in a way that it’s not in the east

intrusively thinking of good line dance songs that could use a baltimore club mix... copperhead road? 🤔

germane to the heart of this, since catholic social teaching gave us one of the most undercovered civil rights activists of the 20th; hard 2 accept it fully when the vp's a catholic convert, fash are out there celebrating franco, and u can find thibault's anti-lgbt books in evangelical uni libraries
Look, I agree with you on plenty of things and will continue to, but Catholicism as a faith community+tradition doesn't deserve the tight association this sort of thing gives it to the worst illiberalism. Anti-catholicism hasnt been banished as a force in the US for long enough to ignore its ghosts.

the most frustrating part about baltimore city's failure to implement the complete streets ordinance is that there were hundreds of public comments from a vast array of individuals, businesses, and non profits in favor; but the one (1) negative comment about "the bike lobby" seems to have won out.

If community engagement is the excuse for why we can’t have complete streets, we should just stop doing community engagement. I’m tired of NIMBYs shutting down bike lanes anyway.

the regular indignity of interfacing with maryland state system is that you get emails like "you missed an appointment [tomorrow]" and you have to think long and hard about how the state is investing nothing in making things not suck. there is no hope in pointing out the bugs either. dismal.

I also want to mention ALT TEXT. Now, with a flip of a switch, you too can let other bsky peeps participate in your shenanigans if they have screen readers or don't understand the context of your pix. (who is this person? Why should I care?)

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

people who park in bike lanes are a reminder of how beautiful the social contract is. it's only a small collection of imaginary things we all believe in that keep their headlights, paint job, and windshields intact 🙏

one of the more subtle reasons you shouldn't wear an ai generated shirt is it prevents you from wearing a banned books shirt that has books which have been BANED.

😌 looking forward to bferg sponsoring legislation that will increase special elections and decrease committee selections, since he cares so deeply about listening to the voice of marylanders.
MD Senate Prez Bill Ferguson still determined to stand in the way of redistricting:

"This is an unbalanced risk reward calculation. It is why there is overwhelming concern about MD joining the mid-cycle redistricting wars."

still just not human functioning enough to go into this more deeply but it'd be great if the brew would revisit vendor one's other work and notice how much of it was not accessible, and by extension not acceptable for public government work in the year of our lacrimation 2025.
screaming in no you should not throw 2.4 million to your plum contractor then spend another 2ish and leave 0.015 million for an ai slop accessibility company

counterpoint: we already have "[name] the first, second, third..."; "[[name] times ten to] the first, second, third..." absolutely rips. if you marry into a family with a different base you can take the log of both sides and the next generation can change the base.
My most trad opinion is you should not be able to use scientific notation in your child's name.
You don’t get to name your kid X Æ A-12 and then say “or whatever his name is” about anyone else.

if baltimore city were to commit to a 3100 mile bike network, at current rates of bike lane construction it would be done in roughly 310 years. 😌
Meanwhile, in the far-left progressive bastion of ... entire State of Utah:

"The plan shows 3,100 miles of paths. The network would come within a mile of 95% of Utahns, connect to 33 school campuses, 31 state/national parks, and 74 high-capacity transit stations."
