This column is about HB294, yet another bad energy bill in OH. I was most struck by this part: “Harrison County saw 853 million gallons of surface water withdrawn for fracking in 2023. That represents 78 percent of the total water usage in the county.”

The more you learn about this topic, the more terrifying it is. @buckeyeenviro.bsky.social is suing ODNR for permitting new wells under old, outdated rules. Ohioans shouldn’t have to wonder whether their drinking water is contaminated with radioactive materials and undisclosed toxic chemicals.
OHIO IS THE DUMPING GROUND. We have 232 active toxic fracking waste wells (PA has 16). Lawmakers passed laws so drillers don't even have to disclose the chemicals being pumped into our earth. It will NOT stay put. This is a public health time bomb.

While Pennsylvania maintains just 16 fracking waste disposal wells, Ohio has welcomed hundreds with minimal oversight, creating what podcast hosts describe as a ticking time bomb beneath residents' fe...

About 90,000 people living near larger chemical plants face an unacceptable risk of developing cancer, the EPA says.

New rules adopted last year could’ve cut that number to 3,000 residents — a drop of 97%.

But Trump has halted those efforts.
Air Pollution From Industrial Facilities Is Far Worse Than Estimated
The Trump administration has put a stop to EPA rules that would have required more than 130 industrial facilities to install air monitors to measure pollution. Millions of people living near these pla...

The City of Youngstown took a stand and passed a moratorium on pyrolysis (plastic incineration greenwashed as “advanced recycling”) and they’re preparing to extend it for a second time, but SOBE still has an OEPA air pollution permit.

Write the OH EPA: "Rescind the pollution permit given to SOBE!"
