this guy has won the Boonta Eve Classic a dozen times
The expected problem with the rise of jargon and lore and multimedia is that casual fans have gotten the impression that a "shallow" understanding of a story makes them worse fans, which isn't true at all?? The idea that they MUST become experts via lore homework makes fans just give up entirely
The unexpected benefit of excessively deep worldbuilding is that you can eventually find a billion connections between each tiny work, and read the lives of characters across decades... Or see the rise of fascism in haunting detail. SW allows insightful vids like this:

I've been rereading all the Star Wars Legends continuity comics (+some books, games, TTRPGs, etc.) the last 6 months, and it's remarkable how 200+ authors over 35 years worked together to make such a massive yet coherent world. And it constantly parallels real-life history and politics

A lot of people around me making stupid fuckin decisions lately. Not me though. Killing it
Going back and reading the old Hyperspace blogs on Wayback recently and finding that many of the lesser-known official creators have big chunks of their work unarchived has been an eye-opening and heartbreaking experience.

It's a bit pricier than garlic most of the time, but tossing some ginger into an instant pot for soup stock cooking is generally an amazing idea that results in extremely yummy stock
Yes because I love the Toree series and didn't even know something went wrong with Saturn :(

Oops completely forgot about portfolio day. Here are some of my favourites
The general idea of Showrunner--create your "own story" within licensed IP--would fulfill my wildest dreams from when I was 11. But the tech is not there. It's not even in the ballpark of there. And interviews like this make these spokesmen sound like VR headset designers in the 90s.
And the idea that some IP holders could prevent users from sharing the AI creations online and "competing" with the real IP... Not only is "competing" exceedingly unlikely, but AI output is public domain in almost every major country, and they're stepping into a huge minefield with this topic
3) Showrunner promises media companies a consistent walled garden with models trained specifically for one IP--but AI chatbots are extremely easy to break; that's their main thing. Vader in Fortnite saying slurs was *4 months ago.*
Sure, the AI model could just make some random stuff up, but literally any AI chatbot can make up a random blurb out of nothing--that takes 5 seconds.

What Showrunner promises is a world that feels alive and consistent to the user, but all that outside training data will make that impossible.
2) The Showrunner guy talked about Star Wars, like you can visit a planet only mentioned offhandedly in the movies via this app. But how would that even work? Boz Pity has like two sentences about it. There's no info, and you'd have to hire writers to fill in all the details. That, x100 for every IP
1) Showrunner promises models trained on only one IP, which is currently not even possible. Lionsgate's whole film catalogue isn't enough training data, people recently realized. pivot-to-ai.com/2025/09/24/l...

No media franchise has enough content for this. So you need lots of outside data too.
Lionsgate still can’t turn its movies into an AI video model
One year ago, Hollywood studio Lionsgate was selling its entire catalogue to AI startup Runway to train a video model. Lionsgate vice-chairman Michael Burns looked forward to “cutting-edge, capital…

...where the app is these whole giant interactive fiction experiences where you can explore every facet of a big franchise and create your own fanfics with simple prompts. AND it's animated fully with AI? It's like my teenage dreams of the perfect adventure game... But just dreams.

Three points...
This is a really good interview Matt Belloni did with the Showrunner guy, because it's enlightening to just how delusionally--or deceptively--the people at the top of these sorts of AI entertainment companies talk about their products. Showrunner's talked about as a limitless yet guarded software...

Nobody believes me about this but I was a major night owl in university until I had really bad jetlag coming back to the U.S. from a year in Japan and started waking up at 5 AM regularly. In over 8 years since then, I've woken up past 10 AM probably less than twenty times. I became a morning person

People need to realize that being a morning or a night person isn't like, hard coded into your DNA.

I used to be a stay up until 1-3 AM if not later every night person. Then I started getting up early and now I get up at 5 AM every day.

You can like, change it if you want.
