It's important to know that, traditionally, Minangkabau is a matrilineal society, so making a bride wearing such elaborate, radiant crown has an extra cultural emphasis. The flower, leaf, and animal motifs on her crown literally show that she makes the world turning.

Batik pagi-sore ("morning-evening") of Pekalongan, Central Java. A product of wartime scarcity, this unisex batik combines two distinctive motifs that meet in the middle. People can just flip the fabric to wear for different occasions.
