Turning our schools into prisons is the dystopia the gun lobby wants. We shouldn’t have to live like that. Instead, we demand stronger gun laws and proactive school safety policies that will keep guns from getting to our campuses in the first place.

Teaching kids how to use guns is the dystopia the gun lobby has been working for. It puts the burden on kids to “know better,” not on the adult gun owners to securely store their guns.

I've always been a strong believer in institutions. But the US spent 40 years empowering an authoritarian movement whose stated goal was to delegitimize and ultimately destroy our institutions. This is not complicated. America was built on patriarchal white supremacy. The majority of white voters and white-adjacent voters chose white supremacy over democracy, as they always do. No Democratic candidate for president has won the white vote since 1964. Not Carter, Obama, Biden, or Harris.
