Our newest cat. Definitely a keeper: calm, friendly, personable. For some reason, Han’s has friends who give him awesome cats.

Using drugs shouldn’t be a crime.
Being homeless shouldn’t be a crime.
Struggling with addiction shouldn’t be a crime.
Struggling with mental health shouldn’t be a crime.
The crime is that we don’t have enough support or resources for people struggling with these issues.

Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against an Austin homeless shelter this Thanksgiving week.

This quote is doing some heavy lifting from the felonious TXAG:
“…the OAG said it did an investigation which found the center to be a ‘magnet’ for drug and criminal activity.”

When we say defund the police, this is something that funding could be put towards. We don't need to pay police to trash homeless camps when we use that money to make it so less people are homeless. Police take up HUGE amounts of city budgets that could be put towards social good.
Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

One day you may end up homeless.

And it won't be because of a homeless person, it will be because of a billionaire.

Oh and you are never going to be a member of the 0.00003%.
